Lab Engineer (Cleanroom) – Delft
Location: Delft, Netherlands
Applied Materials is expanding its Delft facility and is looking for an experienced Lab Engineer to take ownership of day-to-day laboratory operations.
This is a hands-on role for a technical professional who thrives in a lab and cleanroom environment. Your primary focus is to ensure the lab runs smoothly, safely, and efficiently. The role also includes hands-on lab work and support to engineering activities, in addition to some facility-related responsibilities to keep the overall infrastructure reliable.
Your Role and Impact
You are responsible for the daily operation and organization of the lab and cleanroom environment, ensuring engineers can work efficiently in a stable, well-prepared setup. You take ownership of lab readiness, equipment support, and operational flow, and actively participate in lab work where needed.
In addition, you support facility coordination and infrastructure reliability.
Key Responsibilities
Lab and Cleanroom
Ensure day-to-day lab and cleanroom operations run smoothly and predictably
Maintain lab organization, tooling, consumables, and operational readiness
Support installation, setup, and commissioning of lab equipment
Troubleshoot issues and maintain uptime of lab systems and tools
Perform and support hands-on lab work, experiments, and engineering activities
Ensure compliance with safety, EHS, and cleanroom practices
Facility
Support operation of facility infrastructure (vacuum, gas, exhaust, utilities)
Coordinate with internal teams and suppliers on upgrades and modifications
Track and support preventive maintenance activities
Act as a contact point for facility-related issues when needed
Interface with landlords, contractors, and service providers
Requirements
5+ years of experience in a laboratory, cleanroom, pilot production, or technical operations environment
Hands-on technical background with strong troubleshooting skills
Experience supporting equipment, infrastructure, or facility systems
Comfortable working independently and taking ownership of operational topics
Technical education (MBO+, HBO, or equivalent through experience)
Fluent in both Dutch and English, spoken and written

The salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on multiple factors including location, hire grade, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and with consideration of internal equity of our current team members. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation such as participation in a bonus and a stock award program, as applicable.
For all sales roles, the posted salary range is the Target Total Cash (TTC) range for the role, which is the sum of base salary and target bonus amount at 100% goal achievement.
