R&D Scientist in Electrochemistry and Complexation Chemistry
At Veco, you’ll play a crucial role in understanding and developing processes. Drawing on a fundamental understanding of complexation chemistry combined with electrochemical process conditions, you’ll be able to predict, explain, and control aging and interaction processes in a way that allows us to guarantee unique material structures and properties for our customers through stable production processes. In doing so, you’ll enable us to innovate faster and more effectively. You: a job where you can truly push boundaries. Us: a lasting global market leader in our field!
Your challenge as an R&D Scientist
Veco’s customers are mostly innovative companies that are constantly evolving. To maintain our market position, it is essential to continuously innovate in the field of materials and process development. This involves a wide range of challenges, which may focus on the speed and stability of our electroforming processes and the structure and properties of the resulting materials. As an R&D Scientist, you are the ideal person to translate these diverse needs into solutions.
To carry out these projects, you’ll spend about 75% of your time in the lab—working partly in the lab and partly in the office. You’ll draft a plan, conduct literature reviews, and ultimately perform tests on various scales depending on the development phase. After completing the R&D phase, you’ll remain closely involved in the industrialization process. You’ll transfer all your knowledge to the Product Developers and Process Engineers, contribute ideas on next steps, and be available to answer their technical questions. It’s also important for you to stay up to date on market developments. You’ll do this by attending conferences and networking with suppliers and academia. In short, in your role as an R&D Scientist, you provide the technical input for our long-term objectives and largely determine the course we will take in the future.
You’ll be part of the Research and Development department, where you’ll work alongside four colleagues, each with their own area of expertise. In this role, you’ll report to the Manager of Technology Innovation.
We always strive for the best solution—what are your strengths?
The R&D Scientist we’re looking for has experience in a similar role and knowledge of electrochemistry and/or complexation chemistry. You’re innovative, creative, and analytically minded. You have strong communication skills with both the shop floor and the management team (both in Dutch and English, spoken and written). Of course, you’re self-reliant and a good team player.
We also require:
- a degree from a technical university in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or (Inorganic) Chemistry;
- availability for at least 32 hours per week;
- that you live in the Eerbeek, Zutphen, Zwolle, Enschede, Almelo, Deventer, Amersfoort, Arnhem, or Nijmegen area.
What We Offer You as an R&D Scientist
First and foremost, a dynamic and international work environment with plenty of room for personal development and growth. We are financially sound, which allows us to invest strategically in a better future. In addition to the possibility of a permanent position, we offer excellent employment benefits.
These include:
