As head of the Document Management & Archive Department (DMA) department, you are responsible for the university’s records management policy. The department is undergoing a transition from a traditional records management department to a modern team of information advisors and records managers. The goal of the DMA department is to make information available in a structured manner that is independent of person, place, and time. In doing so, the department contributes to WUR’s ambition to operate digitally and with minimal use of paper. Together with the team, you will ensure the continued development of high-quality support for the organizational units in the areas of digital documentary information provision and records management.
Your duties and responsibilities include:

ensuring the effective organization of the department and leading the team responsible for records management, records administration, and functional application management;

developing and implementing policies in the areas of document management and archiving, in compliance with relevant legislation, monitoring the quality of registration, storage, and archiving, and establishing frameworks to facilitate these processes;

shaping the continuous transformation and positioning of DMA in a rapidly changing information environment and translating digital developments and innovations within the field into products and services;
-
actively contributing ideas and advising on complex issues within the field;
-
making an active and strategic contribution to the organization’s structure and renewal;
-
representing DMA in national forums.
Your team
In the course of 2026, the DMA team will transition from the Facilities Department (FB) to become part of WUR Library and, consequently, part of the newly formed Digital & Information Services (DIS) division. In your role as a member of the Library management team, you will work closely with three dedicated direct colleagues, as well as Finance and HR. You will report to the Head of Library. As a department head, you will be hierarchically responsible for managing 11 colleagues.

We do this in close collaboration with our users, the IT organization, Information Management, Privacy & Security, and the Facilities Department.

You also possess:

HBO/university-level work and thinking skills;

demonstrable and relevant experience in a managerial role;

knowledge of and experience with documentary information management, digitization, and innovation;

knowledge of relevant laws and regulations;
-
excellent communication skills and a strong command of spoken and written Dutch and English.
In our international working environment there is an increasing amount of communication in English. For this position it is about language level C1 .

We offer, depending on your experience, a competitive gross salary of between € 4,048.- and € 7,068.- for a full-time working week of 36 hours, in accordance with the CLA Wageningen Research (scale 11/12). Additionally, for this role a contract for 32 hours can be discussed. As for your contract, we initially offer a one-year contract that can be extended on good performance.
