Senior Developer – EV Charging Platform

Pluq installs and manages EV charging stations at prime locations across Europe. Behind all those chargers runs a platform that processes charging sessions around the clock, collects data and ensures that every kilowatt-hour is correctly invoiced.
That's where you come in. As a Senior Developer, you'll help build the heart of Pluq: the platform that controls, monitors and settles thousands of charge points.
We are building a large European network, equipping hundreds of beautiful locations with our chargers. That network is growing fast, and our platform grows with it. You ensure it stays scalable, reliable and maintainable, helping as many businesses as possible become more sustainable.
What you'll be doing
- Building: you develop backend services in Java 21+ running on Azure. From charging session to invoice: you build the logic that makes it all possible.
- Designing: you contribute to architectural decisions that matter. No ivory tower, but pragmatic choices that go live tomorrow.
- Taming data: thousands of charge points continuously send measurements. You work with NoSQL and time-series databases to reliably process and make sense of that data stream.
- Building the team: you mentor less experienced colleagues, conduct code reviews and raise the quality of the entire team.
- Improving: you spot opportunities and continuously make our platform and way of working a little bit better.
About you
- Bachelor's level thinking and working ability (HBO+);
- 5+ years of experience as a backend developer in the JVM ecosystem (Java and/or Kotlin);
- Experience with cloud platforms, preferably Azure;
- Experience with NoSQL databases and an understanding of what's involved in handling large volumes of (time-series) data;
- You take ownership of what you do and say. Accountability is in your DNA;
- You want to grow and learn something new every day. A complex puzzle gives you energy;
- You communicate well in both Dutch and English.
- Knowledge of the OCPP protocol or experience in the energy sector is a plus.
