At Wärtsilä, we keep the world's marine and energy industries moving. From our Global Distribution Centre in Kampen, we deliver more than 100,000 technical spare parts to customers across the globe.
We're looking for a Classification Engineer who enjoys working at the intersection of technology, logistics, customer support, and international collaboration. In this role, you'll become a key link between customers, classification societies, suppliers, and internal stakeholders, ensuring that critical spare parts meet the required classification standards and are delivered without delay.
You'll join a team of experienced specialists consisting of 7 Classification Engineers, 2 Documentation Specialists, and 4 Tuning Specialists who work together daily to solve complex challenges and support customers worldwide.
What will you be doing?
As a Classification Engineer, you are at the heart of the process. Every day brings new challenges, requiring you to coordinate with multiple stakeholders and ensure smooth handling of customer requests related to classification requirements for spare parts for Wärtsilä products.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing and coordinating spare part and re-classification requests for marine and offshore customers.
- Ensuring compliance with the requirements of various Classification Societies.
- Acting as the key point of contact between internal customers, suppliers, Quality, Purchasing, Parts Coordination, and Classification Societies.
- Investigating technical documentation and classification requirements to determine the correct certification pathway.
- Monitoring workflow and ensuring customer requests are processed accurately and on time.
- Identifying opportunities to improve processes and efficiency,

What are we looking for?

You likely bring:
- Technical education or relevant technical work experience.
- Understanding of diesel engines, rotating equipment, propulsion systems, or other industrial machinery.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- A customer-oriented mindset and ability to work with multiple stakeholders.
- A proactive, hands-on approach and willingness to take ownership.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Good English communication skills, both written and spoken.
- Experience with ERP systems, preferably SAP, is an advantage.
- Experience in technical, logistics, maritime, or industrial environment is a plus.
