About our company
Bertus started in 1971 as a record store and has grown into a global player in the distribution of vinyl and CDs. We work with both major and independent labels, serving clients in every genre of music, from Metal and EDM to Jazz and K-Pop. Our own labels, Music On Vinyl and Music On CD, are examples of our innovative character.
Recently, we have joined forces with vinyl pressing plant Record Industry and label V2 under the Artone holding, which allows us to offer a full service – from production and distribution to marketing and sales. This combination makes us unique in the music industry.
At Bertus, music is in our DNA, and you can feel it immediately when you walk through our doors!
What does your working day look like?
A working day at Bertus is dynamic and versatile. No two days are the same, but this gives a good idea of what to expect:
Morning
You start your day with a cup of coffee and a chat with colleagues at the office. At 8:30 a.m., your workday begins, and you first check the updates of new album releases and promotional campaigns that your colleagues from the sales team have shared with you. This will immediately give you inspiration for the conversations you'll have with customers later in the day. Then the joint start of the day in which you share the most important goals and developments with your sales colleagues from the Rest of World sales team.
You log in to the ERP system to check the status of open orders and requests. Have new orders come in? Which customers still need to be informed about stocks or ongoing promotions? You log in to the CRM system and check the status of your leads and opportunities with existing and new customers. You take immediate action by approaching some customers in Asia, because of the time difference. You send them a personalized email with the latest releases and attractive offers that are specific to their region.
Late in the morning
Around 11:00 you will have a meeting with your colleagues from the logistics and purchasing departments. Together, you'll discuss the availability of a popular vinyl release that's selling out fast. Thanks to your close collaboration with these departments, you know exactly what numbers you can offer to your customers, and you call a few key customers to give them this information exclusively. They are enthusiastic and immediately place new orders.
You then update a number of quotations in the system and make an analysis of the sales results of a recent campaign. You'll use these insights to create proposals for a new promotion that you'll discuss with your customers later that week.
Lunch
Around 12:30 you take some time to have lunch with colleagues. There is always someone who has interesting stories about the music industry or new trends, which enhances the informal atmosphere in the office.
Noon
After lunch you have an appointment with a customer from America. Via a video call, you discuss a special promotion for an exclusive release of an album. The customer is interested in a tailor-made edition and together you brainstorm about the possibilities. You write down the details and then quickly communicate with the internal teams to discuss the feasibility and costs.
Later in the afternoon, a request comes in from a new customer who has just registered via the My-Bertus platform. You ensure that the customer gets all the necessary information to get started, including product catalogs and a personal login to the customer portal. You'll answer their questions and give some tips for the best sales titles in their area right away.
Late afternoon
Towards the end of the afternoon, you check your inbox and CRM system one last time to see if there are any urgent questions from customers that still need to be answered. You make some updates and plan a number of follow-up calls for the next day.
Around 5:30 p.m., you end your day, satisfied that you have been able to help your customers again with the latest music and promotions. You are already looking ahead to the new releases that will be released soon and thinking about how you can inform your customers about them tomorrow.
