As a Legal Engineer, you serve as the link between AI, legal practice, and our business operations. You’ll be part of our AI team and will collaborate with our Head of AI, the IT department, and the business controller.
This is a new role that you will help shape. Together with our attorneys, legal professionals, and operations staff, you’ll develop smarter ways of working—from the initial idea to a working AI solution. Whether it’s an agent, an integration, or an automated process, you’ll make sure it gets off the ground. We consider ourselves one of the leaders in the legal profession when it comes to AI, and with your arrival, you’ll join us in taking the next step in our digital transformation.
Your Focus
In this role, you’ll be one of the driving forces behind AI adoption at our firm. You’ll identify needs in the field, translate them into concrete solutions, and ensure that our people feel confident using new technology. Your responsibilities will include:
- developing agentic workflows, prompts, and AI agents that support lawyers and staff members in their daily work;
- helping to build our internal knowledge base (RAG/MCP) so that AI solutions can reliably draw on the right knowledge and sources;
- "vibe coding" and independently developing prototypes, integrations, and automations, as well as testing (open-source) AI tools for their usability in our firm;
- organizing hackathons and guiding teams to develop the best ideas into working solutions that make an impact;
- encouraging and guiding colleagues to experiment with new technology in a safe and responsible manner, and training colleagues so that AI is truly embraced within the organization;
- contributing ideas and helping to build a client-facing platform that makes AI accessible to our clients;
- work with colleagues to provide training sessions for clients on the use of AI in their legal processes.
Your profile
We’re not looking for a jack-of-all-trades. We’re looking for someone who is curious, thinks pragmatically, and enjoys helping others get up to speed with new technology. You:
- have experience building AI solutions, for example as a legal engineer, AI engineer, developer, or in a similar role;
- have an affinity for prompt engineering, agentic workflows, and RAG/MCP applications;
- is willing to experiment (“vibe coding”) and enjoys testing new (open-source) tools to see what value they add;
- can clearly explain technical concepts to colleagues without a technical background and knows how to get them excited about them;
- are proactive, solution-oriented, and thrive in a pioneering role where not everything has been mapped out yet;
- also enjoys training clients on how to use AI in their legal processes.
- A salary between €3,737 and €5,338 gross per month (depending on age and work experience) based on a 40-hour (full-time) workweek, according to job group 8.
- 25 vacation days based on a 40-hour work week.
- A maximum of 3 mandatory leave days, 2 of which are at our expense.
- Work-from-home opportunities and compensation.
