Do you keep a cool head when the technology fails at the most critical moment? Do you get energy from a quick, good solution that a lecturer, invigilator or student can immediately continue with? Do you want to use your technical knowledge every day for better education? Then this is your job.
As Support Officer Weblectures & Examination at Wageningen University & Research, you ensure that digital exams and weblectures (recordings and livestreams) run safely, reliably and smoothly. You are the stable factor behind the scenes who helps lecturers, invigilators and students move forward at the right moment. You work on campus in Wageningen, from the Teaching and Learning Centre (TLC).
You will contribute to the continuity and quality of two pillars of education at WUR: weblectures and digital examination. Within the Educational Media and Digital Examination teams, you ensure that tests and educational activities run smoothly without a hitch.
Your tasks and responsibilities are:
-
Preparing and supporting weblectures: you set up recordings and livestreams and schedule them in the WUR scheduler, check the links with timetables and the digital learning environment, and check the equipment in lecture halls. You test and configure cameras and encoders in the event of room changes or hardware problems. During lectures you are on standby and provide second-line support to student assistants in the event of technical faults.
-
Supporting digital exams: you are the point of contact for invigilators and lecturers and quickly resolve login problems, frozen tests, and network and peripheral equipment issues. Where necessary, you escalate to ICT or functional management and monitor progress.
-
Service desk and incident handling: you record, analyse and resolve reports received by phone, email, portal or in person, monitor the agreed response times during peak and exam periods, and carefully document solutions.
-
Documentation, instruction and knowledge sharing: you draw up clear manuals, checklists and FAQs for invigilators, lecturers and students, give brief instructions and demonstrations, and contribute to the support team’s internal knowledge base.
-
Quality, security and privacy: you work according to the procedures for exam security, fraud prevention and privacy (GDPR), and identify at an early stage any situations that could undermine the reliability of exams or the confidentiality of data.
Because weblectures require coverage from early morning until evening, and exams have their own peak periods, you are occasionally willing to work outside regular office hours; think of early exams and evening lectures.
Your team
You are part of the Educational Media (~85%) and Digital Examination (~15%) teams. Educational Media provides video and podcast recordings for education. You are part of the weblectures subteam, which, with five people, ensures that lectures are recorded so they can be viewed later, and also takes care of other live recordings. The Digital Examination team consists of seven people and is responsible for digital examination.
Where you will work
You will be working at the Teaching and Learning Centre (TLC) of Wageningen University & Research. The TLC supports lecturers and degree programmes in providing good education. Within that whole, the Educational Media and Digital Examination teams ensure that the technology and processes surrounding recordings, livestreams and exams work reliably. It is an environment in which your practical, solution-oriented attitude makes a direct difference to the quality of education.
You are a hands-on doer who makes a difference in practice. You analyse problems quickly, even under time pressure, and find pragmatic solutions. You communicate clearly and calmly with lecturers, invigilators and students, especially in stressful situations. You are service-oriented, precise and a real team player, eager to learn, with an eye for detail as well as for what matters most at any given moment.
-
A completed MBO level 4+ or HBO degree, or demonstrably equivalent professional and intellectual ability.
-

In addition to these qualifications, experience in the following areas would be a strong advantage:
