For our engineering team in Rotterdam, we are looking for a GC Application Specialist (Analytical Engineer) who will play a key role in developing advanced chromatographic applications and shaping next-generation analytical instruments. In this role, you will translate complex analytical challenges into robust solutions, contributing directly to innovative GC technologies used worldwide.
Main responsabilities:
- Develop and optimize GC, GCxGC, and GC-MS applications based on customer needs and industry standards (ASTM, ISO, etc.)
- Translate real-world analytical challenges into robust and practical application solutions
- Explore and introduce innovative chromatographic approaches for next-generation applications
- Contribute to the development of modular GC platforms and future product offerings
- Drive continuous improvement of existing GC and Elemental systems
- Create application notes, technical documentation, and standardized workflows
- Collaborate cross-functionally with mechanical, software, and analytical engineers to translate applications into robust product solutions
- Provide technical expertise and application support to internal stakeholders and customers
- Plan and execute application projects across industries such as petrochemical, energy, environmental, and fuels analysis
Required skilles and background
- MSc in Chemistry (preferred: Analytical Sciences)
- 3–5 years of experience in method development, troubleshooting, and validation
- Hands-on experience with GCxGC and/or GC-MS
- Strong knowledge of GC instrumentation (elemental analysis is a plus)
- Experience with sample preparation techniques (e.g. headspace, SPME) is advantageous
- Familiarity with industry standards (ASTM, ISO) is a plus
- Affinity with both hardware and software in analytical systems
- Strong problem-solving mindset and ability to work independently
- Excellent communication skills and ability to translate technical insights into practical solutions
- Fluent in English (Dutch is a plus)
