Who we are:
NLI B.V. is part of an international group of companies active in trading animal- and plant-based proteins — fish meal, fish oil, poultry meal, poultry fat, wheat gluten, corn gluten, starches and related commodities. We operate across EU and global markets and are now establishing and scaling our EU commercial hub.
The opportunity:
This is a builder role, not a maintenance role. You will be joining a small Rotterdam team (4–5 people) and will own the commercial agenda almost entirely: finding suppliers, winning customers, closing deals, and developing a book of business largely from scratch. If you thrive in structured corporate environments with established pipelines, this role is probably not for you. What you will do:
· Develop and execute a commercial strategy for the Netherlands entity, covering both procurement and sales across EU and international markets
· Source suppliers and acquire new B2B customers independently, with full ownership of the deal cycle from first contact to contract
· Manage and grow a client and supplier portfolio, expanding both volume and product range over time
· Handle foreign trade operations (import-export), coordinating with logistics, legal, QA, and finance departments
· Represent the company at industry trade fairs and events
· Report on pipeline, sales performance, and market developments to group management
What we are looking for:
· 4–6 years of hands-on experience in international commodity trading or B2B sales — ideally in oils, proteins, feed ingredients, or adjacent agricultural commodities
· Proven track record of developing business, not just managing existing accounts
· Experience with foreign trade operations (import/export documentation, Incoterms, cross-border contracts)
· Strong negotiator with a direct, commercially sharp communication style
· Fluent English, other languages are a strong plus
· Based in the Netherlands, preferably in Rotterdam area
