The University College Groningen (UCG) is a faculty of the University of Groningen that started a Liberal Arts and Sciences program in September 2014. With approximately 60 motivated staff members and 400 students, we are a dynamic, highly international and well-connected community. The UCG LAS program offers a small-scale and intensive broad Bachelor education with majors in three disciplines: humanities, social sciences and science. Through experiential learning and project- based education, our students have a unique opportunity to engage in societal challenges and approach complex problems in an interdisciplinary way. Our staff is focused on teaching innovation and research, in which they successfully apply interdisciplinary approaches to socially relevant projects with impact. As a faculty, we aim to stay connected with other faculties, region and society and expand our collaborations both locally and globally.
One of our colleagues is currently on sick leave, so we are looking for an Academic Advisor / Study Advisor. This position will provide you with a social, energetic and internationally oriented work environment.
You will be part of UCG’s close-knit Support Staff team of 15 people. Our team works across various areas of Education Support, including Exchange, Internships, Administration processes, secretarial support, communication, Marketing and recruitment, Education Policy, and Facilities. Although everyone has their own main responsibilities, teamwork is at the heart of what we do, and we’re always happy to help each other out when needed. You’ll also work closely with our Academic Staff.
In this role, you will collaborate closely with two other study advisors to help students navigate our programme successfully, support study choices, and convey the rules and regulations of the programme. In addition, you will offer advice and guidance on various study and student-related issues, including mental health issues, study problems, and personal circumstances.
