We are at an inflection point in the future of food.
Aquaculture is the fastest-growing food production system in the world and one of the most critical to get right. Done well, it has the potential to nourish billions while reducing pressure on wild ecosystems. Done poorly, it risks repeating the mistakes of industrial agriculture.
At Aqua-Spark, we have spent the past decade building a global ecosystem of companies, innovators, and partners working to transform aquaculture from the ground up. Backed primarily by visionary family offices and mission-aligned investors, we’ve proven that a systems-level approach to investing in this space is not only possible, but necessary.
Now, we are entering the next phase.
To truly shift a global food system, we need to bring institutional capital into the fold, partners who understand that long-term value creation depends on environmental and social resilience, and who are ready to deploy capital accordingly.
We are looking for a Head of Institutional Capital to lead this transition.
The Role
This is not a traditional fundraising role. You will be responsible for leading Aqua-Spark’s strategy to engage institutional investors, pension funds, sovereign wealth funds, insurance companies, and other large allocators, who are ready to play a defining role in shaping the future of sustainable food systems. You will translate Aqua-Spark’s vision, track record, and portfolio into a compelling institutional proposition, while helping investors understand their role in enabling systemic change. This is as much about shifting mindsets, building partnerships, as it is about raising capital.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead institutional capital strategy: Define and execute a strategy to attract Article 9-aligned institutional investors into Aqua-Spark funds.
- Build and manage key relationships: Develop deep, long-term relationships with institutional LPs across Europe, North America, and beyond.
- Shape the narrative: Translate Aqua-Spark’s systems approach into language that resonates with institutional frameworks, connecting sustainability, risk, return, and long-term value creation.
- Drive capital formation: Lead end-to-end fundraising processes with institutional investors, from initial engagement through diligence and closing.
- Bridge worlds: Act as a connector between financial markets and real-world impact, helping institutions understand aquaculture not just as an asset class, but as a critical system in need of transformation.
- Collaborate internally: Work closely with investment, impact, and leadership teams to ensure alignment between capital strategy and portfolio development.
Who you are
- Deep experience working with institutional investors (LP relations, capital raising, or allocator side experience)
- Strong understanding of ESG / Article 9 frameworks and sustainable investing
- Ability to operate credibly in both financial and impact-driven environments
- A systems thinker who can connect capital to real-world outcomes
- Exceptional communicator, able to simplify complexity without losing nuance
- Entrepreneurial and self-directed, excited to build something new within an established platform
- Understand (and enjoy) our deep sense of community amongst our investor group
- Most importantly, you believe that how we allocate capital shapes the world we live in and you want to be part of redirecting it toward a more sustainable and resilient food system.
