At Renewi, we are looking for a Buyer Transportation to take ownership of a transportation portfolio with an annual spend of approximately €110 million. In this role, you will help shape and execute sourcing strategies, drive supplier performance and support the transformation of one of the largest transport fleets in the Benelux.
Your role:
As Buyer Transportation, you are responsible for a strategic category that directly impacts our operational performance, service levels and cost base.
You will work closely with operational stakeholders, suppliers and procurement colleagues across Belgium and the Netherlands to identify opportunities, implement improvements and create sustainable value.
You report to the Category Manager Logistics and are part of the wider Group Procurement team.
What will you do?
- Develop and execute category strategies within the Transportation domain.
- Lead sourcing projects and contract negotiations.
- Manage supplier relationships and drive supplier performance improvements.
- Identify opportunities for cost optimisation, value creation and risk reduction.
- Assess and challenge internal versus external transport decisions based on total cost of ownership, service levels and operational constraints.
- Support the transition towards more sustainable and innovative transportation solutions.
- Work closely with operational stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into procurement initiatives.
- Monitor market developments, supplier trends and innovation opportunities.
- Ensure compliance with procurement policies, governance standards and contractual obligations.
- Support cross-functional projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
What do you bring?
You are commercially minded, analytical and capable of building strong relationships across different levels of the organisation. You understand how procurement creates business value and know how to balance stakeholder interests with commercial outcomes.
You also bring:
- Several years of procurement experience within transportation, logistics, fleet.
- Experience with strategic sourcing, contract negotiations and supplier management.
- Strong analytical skills and a data-driven approach with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
- Experience working in complex stakeholder environments with the ability to influence without direct authority.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Understanding transport operations and capacity planning is considered a strong advantage.
- Experience with transport management and/or procurement systems (e.g. Transporeon or similar platforms).
- Fluency in Dutch and English; French is a plus.

Procurement at Renewi is responsible for approximately €600 million OPEX and €150 million CAPEX spend across Belgium and the Netherlands.
