As Project Engineer, you are responsible for the technical and engineering support of complex aircraft projects within the CES Completion and Engineering Services department. You contribute to large-scale projects in the VVIP and Special Mission Aircraft markets, typically ranging from €10 to €50 million in value.
Working across all phases of the EPIC lifecycle, Engineering, Procurement, Installation, Commissioning and Certification, you act as the technical right hand of the Overall Project Manager. You lead the project from an engineering perspective, ensuring that technical scope, planning, cost and quality targets are achieved while safeguarding compliance with contractual and regulatory requirements.
You report hierarchically to the Head of Large Projects and functionally to the Overall Project Manager. As a core member of the Project Management Team, you represent the Project Manager when required and provide technical leadership to both internal and external stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
Your Responsibilities
You support Proposal and Sales Managers during the early project phases, contributing technical expertise to feasibility assessments and contract preparation. After contract award, you take ownership of the engineering Scope of Work (SoW), ensuring execution within agreed cost, schedule and quality parameters.
You establish and maintain the Engineering Plan, including relevant Project-Specific Procedures (PSP), and develop the engineering planning in close cooperation with the Production Lead and Procurement. You are responsible for identifying, managing and mitigating technical risks from proposal phase through final delivery.
You process out-of-scope work through formal change management procedures and provide the Project Manager with technical input for commercial alignment with the client. In addition, you monitor and guide the certification process in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring compliance with aviation regulations.
You are also responsible for structured project close-out and driving technical improvements through a continuous lessons-learned process.
Communication, Collaboration & Working Environment
As Project Engineer, you guide the technical execution of EPIC projects within a dynamic and multidisciplinary environment. You typically operate within a portfolio of approximately three projects in different EPIC phases, balancing technical oversight, stakeholder alignment and execution control.
You work closely with a core team of around 10 professionals, including Project Managers, Project Engineers, Proposal Managers, Planners and Sales Managers. In addition, you collaborate intensively with Procurement, Operations, Engineering, Production and Component Maintenance teams, while maintaining regular contact with customers. Strong communication and stakeholder management skills are therefore essential to ensure alignment, transparency and successful project delivery.
