A bright and curious student willing to explore the functions of modeFrontier and suggest applications within the workflows of DAF engine development. The CAE-engines department is responsible for creation and validation of models that can describe and predict the behaviour of the new and current engines. Due to more increasing requirements on emissions modern diesel engines have become complex systems. These emission legislations cause the need to add additional sub-systems to the base engine. All of these systems and sub-systems with pipes, lines and wiring need to be mounted to the base engine. Some of these currently use brackets or studs. To ensure the lifetime performance of the engine all these systems and subsystems need to be checked on their endurance life.
Translating and transferring data from one software environment to another is very common during the analysis stage of an engine development project. For instance a linear dynamic model to study engine vibrations often derive force input from a dynamic simulation translated to frequency space via FFTs. modeFrontier presents a candidate software platform for such data transfers and work flow automations.
The challenge will be to identify, some such workflows with help of the support engineer or supervisor at DAF in the context of structural FEA, dynamics and CFD. Student must feel free to setup discussions and interviews to gain deeper understanding of the work flows. A working example of an automated process will be appreciated at the end.

Elke afstudeerder krijgt de kans om deel te nemen aan het Student Event. Tijdens dit event leer je andere stagiaires kennen en kom je meer te weten over DAF / PACCAR!

Within the PACCAR Inc. Global Powertrain is the centre of competence for PACCAR engine development. In our state-of-the-art engine development centre we develop engine families for the future regulations. Our engines and trucks are best in class products in the transportation world being always driven by providing environmentally friendly products with best cost-effectiveness and highest reliability for our customers.
The Engineering department is responsible for the development of new engine hardware concepts and maintaining the in-production engine families. The department is divided in several hardware groups and a CAE group for analysis support. For the CAE group we have an open position for a bachelor graduate student. We are looking for an enthousiastic Masters or Bachelors student from information Science with interest in Engineering.
