The Financial Controller is a key role within the finance function, responsible for ensuring the integrity of financial reporting, budget control, and the quality of financial data used in management decision-making. The role reports directly to the CEO and works closely with the Smart4Aviation Group CFO and directors on the financial planning of technology projects, investment planning, and IT operational cost control.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for the CEO and group management
- Ensuring compliance of reports with applicable accounting standards
- Analysis of budget variances and recommendation of corrective actions
- Oversight of the month-end and year-end close process
- Coordination and consolidation of the annual budget (FY budget) and rolling forecast processes
- Collaboration with the CTO and CFO on planning technology capex and infrastructure costs
- Development of financial models supporting investment and strategic decisions
- Active participation in product roadmap reviews, providing financial input on development priorities, resource allocation, and build vs. buy decisions.
- Monitoring of financial and operational KPIs
- Oversight of cash flow and optimisation of liquidity management
- Identification and assessment of financial risks; recommendation of mitigation mechanisms
- Liaison with banks, external auditors, and tax advisors
- Design, implementation, and maintenance of the internal control framework in the finance area
- Ensuring compliance with local tax regulations and financial reporting requirements
- Collaboration with the security and IT teams on protection of financial data
- Preparation of the company for external audits and due diligence processes
- Monitoring of development project budgets and product roadmap investments, ensuring alignment with approved financial plans and governance thresholds
- Financial assessment of technology projects: ROI, TCO, lifecycle cost analysis
- Cost control of cloud infrastructure spend and software licences
- Participation in vendor management processes from a financial perspective
- Provision of financial analysis for the Architecture Board and the technology roadmap
Requirements Qualifications & Experience
- Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a Financial Controller, Chief Accountant, or equivalent role
- Sound knowledge of IFRS / local GAAP and applicable tax regulations
- Advanced proficiency in MS Excel (financial modelling); experience with ERP systems (e.g. SAP, Comarch, Dynamics)
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions within the finance function
- English language proficiency at B2 level or above (international working environment)
Nice to have
- Professional qualification: ACCA, CIMA, or CPA
- Experience in a technology or SaaS company
- Familiarity with BI tools and reporting automation
- Experience in a group or holding company structure
- Knowledge of R&D project financing, EU grants
- Fluent Polish
