The Project:
APM Terminals is undertaking a significant acquisition and capital container terminal expansion & transformation project at the North Sea Terminal Bremerhaven (NTB) Container Terminal. The purpose of the project is to;
- Fully integrate NTB into the APM Terminals portfolio.
- Modernize and upgrade the terminal by the introduction of new equipment, updating the infrastructure & IT / OT systems and the implementation of a new operating model
- Support growth in the existing container terminal business and expand the business value and proposition for Maersk
To support the successful delivery of the project, we are seeking to appoint an OT&A Manager to join our team. The successful candidate will draw upon project and industry experience to form part of a high-performing project team working across, automation, equipment, and integration workstreams. Excellent teamworking skills are a prerequisite, and we are looking for candidates with a particular focus on collaboration, across a technically and culturally diverse business and group of stakeholders.
PURPOSE:
The OT&A Manager plays a pivotal role in delivering all OT solutions across within the Falcon Project scope. This role combines strategic project leadership, stakeholder engagement, and technical oversight to ensure successful deployment of OT&A products within scope, budget, and schedule – as part of the overall Falcon plan. Connecting OT&A to both Asset Delivery and Operations is central to this role, requiring close collaboration with project, terminal staff, cross-functional teams, and external partners, while also managing a (in)direct team with OT staff.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Overall responsibilities are the following:
- Lead the end-to-end deployment of OT products within Falcon, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives, product integrity, and site-specific requirements. In scope are (non-exhaustive), Crane Automation features, TOS, AutoSC, AD, AIL, Glass Support and Quality Assurance,
- Develop and maintain comprehensive Project Management Plans (PMPs), including scope, timelines, resource allocation, risk mitigation, and compliance.
- Deliver Product deployment approach and plan, including assurance of product integrity, integration and testing
- Ensure the OT/operational performance ramp-up is setting/keeping up with the overall Project delivery pace, switch over from conventional to automated assets and yard to be linked to the performance of automated equipment.
- Be a sparring partner to all functional departments and challenge requirements for modernization and technical integration set-up to ensure we use the most up-to-date solutions with fit-for-purpose approach
- Define and execute the OT product optimization strategy in collaboration with Product owners, OEMs and Terminal stakeholders
- Ensure due compliance, safety and other relevant regulations to be adhered to during the deployment
- Maximize and continuously improve the level of consistency between product deployments
- Continuously ensure the deployment fulfils all site-specific needs as defined in consultation with the project and terminal teams within the product blueprint for site deployment.
- Manage and lead a team of OT experts, ensuring they stay engaged, motivated, and aligned with project goals.
- To operationalize global, cross-functional product definitions within terminal specific conditions including any related site-specific configurations that need to be aligned between global and local stakeholders
- To provide regular reporting on project progress, budget status, and key performance indicators to senior management.
- To work closely with other OT&A Managers and Project Execution globally to establish a common deployment approach and continuously improve same, make use of the best practices and ensure the relevant framework is implemented / followed as applicable
- To work with suppliers’ deployment teams to proactively ensure their delivery is meeting the APM Terminals plans/targets and drive the local product integration and related alignment process between suppliers within the boundaries of product integrity
- To oversee the first line of support for the deployment given at the terminal(s) until go-live and remain involved until Operations stability
- To oversee the definition of and participate in all testing milestones and approve the outcomes
- To contribute to local product adoption by facilitating capability building/knowledge transfer to terminal staff as part of the deployment
CRITICAL QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
Necessary to fulfil the requirements of the position:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Project Management, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
- Professional expertise and deep knowledge in the context of Container Terminal Operations and relevant experience in port automation / modernization
- Proven experience in project management, particularly in container terminal industry or related fields.
- Ability to develop and maintain comprehensive Project Management Plans (PMPs)
- Strong understanding of technology systems (TOS, ECS, PLC/SCADA, API/Middleware, OPC UA, 5G, cybersecurity).
- English proficiency, German preferable
- High familiarity and proven proficiency of delivering results within project/product deployment environment
- Versatile resource management and planning skills
- Strong prioritization abilities and can-do mindset
- Methodological know-how to lead iterative design, development and testing cycles from end-to-end throughout the deployment
- Ability to balance short-term deliverables and long-term business objectives
- Ability to solve complex problems on a daily basis and in a structured manner
- People leadership skills for driving success of deployment teams
- Strong stakeholder management & communication skills
- Continuous focus to drive change management as key enabler for stakeholder buy-in and successful deployment outcomes
- Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with a high degree of autonomy.

- This position has direct reports and multiple contractors and 3rd party vendors to monitor and supervise
- This position works with both internal and external stakeholders
- This is a position based in Bremerhaven, Germany
REPORTING AND SCOPE:
- The direct reporting line will be to the Project Director (on site).
- The functional reporting line is to the Global Head of OT&A
