Job Description:
About the Team:
Eco-Movement, part of Dow Jones, is a leading global platform for EV charge point location and pricing data. Customers of the platform include navigation providers, charge point operators, eMSPs, and the public sector. As an independent platform with more than 1.5 million connectors in over 80 countries, Eco-Movement is in a unique position to support the electrification of the passenger and heavy-duty vehicle segments.

About the Role:
As Engineering Manager, you will lead our Locations Team, the heart of Eco-Movement's engineering organisation. This team owns the location data pipeline and the main location data API, supplying the reliable, high-quality data that the entire company depends on.
This is primarily a people leadership role, with a strong focus on engineering process improvement: how the team ships software, how it works with product management, and how it interfaces with the rest of the organisation. You will also contribute technically by joining architecture discussions, participating in technical spikes, and occasionally writing code but expect this to represent around 30% of your time.
You will report directly to the CTO.
We embrace AI as a powerful partner (Claude, Gemini and more) to augment our workflows, but it's not a replacement for human excellence. We take collective pride in the systems we build, ensuring our architecture is sustainable, clean, and something the entire team is proud to stand behind.
You Will:
Build a high-performing team. Coach, develop, and grow the engineers on the team, fostering psychological safety, clear direction, and an environment where people understand how their work contributes to Eco-Movement's success and can meet their own professional growth goals. This includes being an active part of the hiring process as the team continues to expand.
Drive engineering process improvement. Assess and improve how the team delivers: the release and deployment process, the CI/CD pipeline, code review culture, incident response, and testing standards. Bring structure and clarity to day-to-day engineering workflows and raise the bar for how the team operates.
Shape technical direction. Work closely with the product manager to ensure engineering and product are well-aligned, with clear ownership and responsibilities on both sides. Act as a connector between the Locations team and the rest of the engineering organisation, ensuring dependencies are visible, handoffs are clean, and nothing falls through the cracks.
You Have:
4-7 years of engineering management experience, ideally leading backend or data-focused teams. A track record of improving engineering processes: release cadence, CI/CD pipelines, cross-team collaboration, or similar.
Deep technical experience to engage meaningfully in architectural discussions and coding. Go and PHP experience is a must. Familiarity with technologies like Google Cloud Platform, Kubernetes, BigQuery, or Pub/Sub is a strong advantage.
A track record of building stable, motivated teams with clear purpose and high ownership.
Experience managing engineering teams through a period of rapid growth or organizational change, such as a scale-up or post-acquisition environment, is a strong plus.
Domain knowledge in EV, mobility, or data platforms is a meaningful bonus.
Fluency in Dutch is a nice-to-have; English is our working language across a team of 20+ nationalities.
