Are you ready to shape the future of Quality Engineering in the financial sector?
At CGI, you help banks, insurers, pension providers and other financial institutions build and improve business-critical digital solutions. These solutions must be secure, reliable, scalable, resilient and compliant, because they support processes that impact millions of users every day.
As a Quality Engineering Architect, you are not a traditional tester. You are the architect, advisor and enabler who helps Agile and DevOps teams embed quality from the start. You bring together risk-based testing, automation, cloud, CI/CD, observability, test evidence, compliance and AI-assisted testing into a modern and future-proof Quality Engineering approach.
You help our clients move from testing as a phase to quality as an engineering capability.
Your role in our team
As a Quality Engineering Architect [Financial Services], you design, establish and continuously improve Quality Engineering approaches across Agile and DevOps teams. You help teams move beyond testing at the end of the delivery cycle and ensure that quality is embedded from refinement and design through development, testing, deployment and operations.
You define quality strategies, test architectures, automation principles, quality standards and reusable implementation patterns that fit complex and regulated financial environments. You make risks visible, translate compliance and audit requirements into practical quality measures and help teams make informed decisions about what to test, when to test, how deeply to test and how to automate effectively.
In this role, you work closely with Product Owners, Scrum Masters, developers, business analysts, solution architects, security specialists, DevOps engineers and client stakeholders. You connect strategy, architecture and hands-on engineering, and you help teams take ownership of quality without taking over their work.
You will also play an important role in modernizing the quality landscape. This includes scalable automation frameworks, API testing, service virtualization, test data management, CI/CD quality gates, observability, quality reporting, non-functional testing and AI-assisted testing. You are not expected to be the expert in every specialist domain yourself, but you know how to define direction, involve the right expertise and create a coherent quality approach.
Your work helps create faster, safer and more predictable software delivery in environments where reliability, security, resilience and compliance are essential.
Your responsibilities include
- Defining and implementing Quality Engineering strategies across Agile and DevOps teams.
- Designing quality architectures, test strategies, automation principles and reusable quality patterns.
- Creating scalable test automation approaches for UI, API, integration, component and end-to-end testing.
- Embedding quality gates, test evidence and test reporting into CI/CD pipelines.
- Applying risk-based testing in complex and regulated financial services environments.
- Translating compliance, auditability, DORA, security and operational resilience requirements into practical quality measures.
- Driving shift-left quality practices in refinement, design, development and code review.
- Supporting shift-right practices such as observability, monitoring, production feedback and operational quality indicators.
- Advising on non-functional testing such as performance, resilience, security, accessibility, maintainability and operability.
- Improving test data management, service virtualization, quality dashboards and release confidence.
- Establishing reusable Golden Paths, reference implementations, templates and standards for multiple teams.
- Coaching teams, engineers and stakeholders in quality ownership and modern Quality Engineering practices.
- Contributing to CGI’s Quality Engineering propositions, communities of practice and thought leadership within financial services.
How you strengthen our team
You are a senior Quality Engineering professional who can provide direction, create structure and help teams improve step by step. You are proactive, analytical and pragmatic, and you know how to balance ambition with what is realistic in complex delivery environments.
You are comfortable discussing quality strategy with senior stakeholders, architecture with technical specialists and concrete engineering practices with development teams. You understand that Quality Engineering is not a separate phase or a separate team, but a mindset and capability that should be part of the full software delivery lifecycle.
You communicate clearly, challenge constructively and know how to create buy-in. You can coach teams towards better quality ownership without becoming the person who solves everything for them. You bring seniority, energy and practical experience to environments where quality, security, compliance and delivery speed all matter.
You are able to operate at different levels: from defining a quality vision and architectural guardrails to reviewing test automation approaches, CI/CD integration, test evidence and reporting. You know how to make quality practical, measurable and scalable.
We are looking for someone with
- A completed bachelor’s or master’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 8 years overall in quality engineering, out of which minimum 3 years as a proven Test Architect.
- Strong experience with Agile, Scrum, DevOps and CI/CD delivery models.
- Experience defining quality strategies, test architectures or automation approaches across multiple teams.
- Experience with test automation tools and frameworks, for example Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, Robot Framework, Cucumber, RestAssured, Postman, Pact, JUnit, NUnit or similar.
- Experience with API testing, integration testing, regression testing, component testing and end-to-end testing.
- Experience with CI/CD tooling and test integration, for example Azure DevOps, Azure Pipelines, GitHub Actions, Jenkins or similar.
- Experience with quality reporting and test evidence, for example Azure Test Plans, Allure, pipeline reports or dashboarding solutions.
- Experience with cloud environments such as Azure, AWS or Google Cloud Platform is a plus.
- Knowledge of performance testing, security testing, accessibility testing, resilience testing or other non-functional testing areas is a plus.
- Experience in financial services, banking, insurance, pensions, payments, regulatory reporting, risk, compliance or another regulated environment is a strong advantage.
- Familiarity with compliance, auditability, risk management, data privacy, secure software delivery and operational resilience.
- Knowledge of DORA, ISO standards, security-by-design, risk-based testing or regulated software delivery is a plus.
- Strong communication skills in English, and preferably Dutch.
- Ability to coach teams and create buy-in for Quality Engineering practices.
- A proactive, pragmatic and result-oriented mindset.
