As Lecturer in Big Data and AI, you will contribute to education and innovation within the Information Technology Group. You will teach and coordinate courses in areas such as big data systems, artificial intelligence, machine learning, data engineering, and software systems. You will help students develop both theoretical understanding and practical engineering skills that are essential for designing modern intelligent systems.
You will work in an international and interdisciplinary environment where digital technologies are increasingly applied to societal challenges in domains such as food, agriculture, environment, health, and sustainability.
Your duties and responsibilities include:

Teaching and coordinating courses in Big Data, AI, and related IT subjects;

Supervising student projects, theses, and practical assignments;

Contributing to curriculum development and educational innovation;

Supporting the integration of AI and data technologies in education;

Collaborating with colleagues on educational and applied research activities.
Your team
You will work within the Information Technology Group, an international and collaborative team of researchers and educators focusing on AI, data science, and software engineering. The group is part of Wageningen University & Research and contributes to education and research at the intersection of IT and life sciences.
You are an enthusiastic educator with strong communication skills and a passion for teaching data science and artificial intelligence. You enjoy working in an international academic environment and supporting students in their learning and thesis trajectory.
You also possess:

A completed PhD degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Information Technology, or a related field;

Demonstrated knowledge of Big Data technologies and Artificial Intelligence;
-
Experience with programming and modern data/AI frameworks;
-
Strong communication and teaching skills;
-
Excellent command of English.
Preferably, you also have:

University teaching experience;
-
Experience with Python, cloud technologies, distributed systems, or machine learning platforms;

Affinity with interdisciplinary and application-driven education.
In our international working environment there is an increasing amount of communication in English. For this position it is about language level C1.
Scale 7 up to and including 10
WUR welcomes applications from international candidates. Depending on your experience, we offer a competitive gross salary of between €3546 and €5538 for a full-time working week of 38 hours, in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreements for Dutch Universities (CAO-NU) (scale 10). As for your contract, we initially offer a one-year contract that can be extended based on good performance.
