HEAD OF ACCOUNTING BENELUX
The Head of Accounting reports into the CFO Benelux and is responsible for providing accounting leadership and governance across the Benelux organization. The role ensures accurate and timely financial reporting, compliance with Group policies, IFRS and local statutory requirements, while driving continuous improvement, finance transformation and accounting excellence across the region.
As the accounting lead for the Record-to-Report (RTR), Order-to-Cash (OTC) and Purchase-to-Pay (PTP) processes, the Head of Accounting supports the development of both finance and non-finance colleagues and is hierarchically responsible for the Accounting team in the Benelux.
Main responsibilities
As the Head of Accounting, your role is multifaceted, encompassing a broad range of responsibilities aimed at ensuring financial integrity, compliance and operational excellence across the Benelux organization. At the core of your mission is to establish strong accounting governance, maintain effective internal controls and ensure the delivery of high-quality financial information that supports decision-making.
You actively identify, recommend and implement solutions to strengthen accounting processes, improve efficiency, optimize cash flow and mitigate financial and compliance risks. A key aspect of the role involves staying ahead of changes in accounting standards, regulatory requirements and Group policies, ensuring timely implementation and communication throughout the organization.

Oversee and manage the monthly, quarterly and annual closing processes in line with Group policies, accounting standards and compliance requirements.

Ensure the preparation and reporting of accurate monthly financial statements, including Balance Sheet, P&L and Cash Flow reporting.

Review and approve complex journal entries, reconciliations and accounting treatments, ensuring appropriate documentation and audit trails.

Ensure reconciliation and follow-up of all balance sheet accounts and maintain the integrity of the trial balance and control reports.

Ensure compliance with IFRS, local legislation, tax regulations and company policies.

Monitor developments in accounting and reporting requirements and implement necessary changes across the Benelux organization.

Lead and support the team in resolving complex accounting issues and technical accounting matters.

Manage the service relationship and performance of the Shared Service Finance Hub and external service providers, ensuring adherence to agreed service levels.

Oversee the accurate and timely submission of statutory accounts, tax-related reporting and regulatory filings.

Coordinate internal and external audits and ensure timely resolution of audit findings.

Drive the strategic direction of the accounting function and contribute to the long-term finance transformation agenda.

Lead accounting process improvements, automation initiatives and digitalization opportunities to create accounting best practices.

Ensure robust financial governance and ethical standards are maintained and communicated.

Conduct analysis and provide guidance on highly critical accounting matters, including IFRS-related topics and business initiatives.

Actively lead, develop and motivate the RTR, OTC and PTP Finance teams.

Manage and develop accounting expertise within the business and promote continuous improvement and best practice.

Support own and others’ career development and succession planning agenda.

Requirements

Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration or similar.

5-10 years of relevant financial experience, including 3-5 years in a comparable leadership role.

Experience within accounting, audit and/or financial reporting environments.

Strong knowledge of IFRS, statutory reporting, internal controls and compliance requirements.

Experience managing complex accounting processes across RTR, OTC and PTP environments.

Proven leadership experience with the ability to lead, develop and motivate teams.

Strong analytical skills and the ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.

Solid knowledge of Oracle (including SmartView), CREST, Vision and Power BI.

Advanced user of MS Excel and PowerPoint.
