As a Mechanical Design / Creative Engineer, you will design, prototype, and bring to life advanced mechanical and structural solutions for UAV systems. Your focus lies on sensor integration, RF payloads, and lightweight, high-performance components.
You operate at the intersection of creativity and execution, turning field feedback, failure data, and real-world insights into rapid design improvements. Your work directly impacts UAV reliability, resilience, and performance in demanding environments.
Design and optimise mechanical components, sensor mounts, RF structures, and payload integrations
Develop complex 3D CAD models and assemblies in SolidWorks (surfacing, configurations)
Leverage additive manufacturing (MJF, SLS, FDM, SLA) for rapid prototyping and low-volume production
Work with advanced materials such as PA12, carbon composites, and high-temperature polymers
Design for manufacturability: tolerances, wall thickness, support strategies, post-processing
Create modular, serviceable designs for fast field repair and replacement
Translate real-world feedback into fast design iterations
Perform structural analysis (hand calculations + basic FEA)
Validate designs against stress, vibration, thermal, and environmental conditions
Ensure aerodynamic efficiency of external components (fairings, radomes, pods)
Design with sealing, crash tolerance, and EMC considerations in mind
Develop low-drag housings and payload structures for UAV platforms
Understand how design choices affect flight stability, endurance, and performance
Ensure compatibility across systems, payloads, and configurations
Work closely with Integration, Flight Test, and Software Engineers
Participate in hands-on assembly, testing, and validation (lab & field)
Explore new materials, manufacturing techniques, and design approaches
