Binnen ons nieuwe EV-project ontwikkelen we een smart e-axle: een geïntegreerde asmodule waarin de volledige powertrain, controle- en dynamicacomponenten samenkomen, en die tegelijk een dragende structurele functie vervult in het voertuig. Voor dit project zoeken we een ervaren Structural Engineer die deze module mee vormgeeft en optimaliseert.
The Landrovers is een innovatief snel groeiend bedrijf en gespecialiseerd in de restauratie en customisatie van de Land Rover Defender. We bouwen letterlijk de Defender helemaal opnieuw op! We zijn een dynamisch team met een goede combinatie tussen een professionele en informele sfeer. Wij zijn een gedreven team dat elke auto zo mooi mogelijk bij de klant af wil leveren. Elke auto wordt naar de wensen van de klant vorm gegeven, waardoor iedere Defender anders is en jouw werkdag nooit hetzelfde! Onze unieke Defenders rijden over de hele wereld rond. Zowel gemotoriseerd, met een brullende Amerikaanse V8, als elektrisch middels ons eigen ontwikkelde EV Defender en zetten nu de volgende stap met een eigen ontwikkelde smart e-axle. Daar hebben we jouw expertise bij nodig. Hier kan ook jij deel van uitmaken dus kom ons team versterken en bouw mee de droom van elke klant werkelijkheid te maken!
Je werkzaamheden lopen van conceptontwikkeling en CAD-ontwerp tot prototyping en structurele validatie. Je werkt nauw samen met engineers uit andere disciplines binnen een klein, multidisciplinair team waarin je veel vrijheid en eigen verantwoordelijkheid krijgt.
Als Structural Engineer ga je onder andere:
- Het structurele concept van de smart e-axle mee ontwikkelen
- Hoofdkrachtpaden identificeren en componenten daaromheen vormgeven
- CAD-ontwerp en technische uitwerking van structurele onderdelen
- Structurele analyses uitvoeren (hand calculations en FEM)
- Prototypes (mee) bouwen en testen
- Samenwerken met de teams die zich bezighouden met powertrain, controle en voertuigdynamica
- Meedenken over optimalisaties op gewicht, stijfheid en maakbaarheid
Een ervaren structural engineer met een aangeboren gevoel voor constructie. Iemand die hoofdkrachtpaden direct herkent en structurele onderdelen kan vormgeven tot een elegante en efficiënte oplossing.
- Een afgeronde WO-opleiding richting werktuigbouwkunde, voertuigtechniek, lucht- en ruimtevaart of een vergelijkbare technische studie
- Een paar jaar relevante werkervaring bij een engineering-bedrijf of binnen een Formula Student team
- Sterk intuïtief inzicht in structurele mechanica: je komt met ervaring en gevoel tot 80% van de uiteindelijke vorm voordat je begint te rekenen
- Ervaring met FEM-analyse is een pré, maar geen vervanging van structureel inzicht
- Sterk in CAD-ontwerp en het vertalen van ideeën naar maakbare onderdelen
- Je vindt het leuk om je eigen ontwerpen fysiek te realiseren en te testen
- Je werkt zelfstandig, gestructureerd en kunt schakelen tussen verschillende disciplines

The Landrovers is looking for a Structural Engineer (Smart E-Axle)
Within our new EV project, we are developing a smart e-axle: an integrated axle module in which the complete powertrain, control, and dynamics components come together, while simultaneously serving as a load-bearing structural element of the vehicle. For this project, we are looking for an experienced Structural Engineer to help shape and optimize this module.
The Landrovers is an innovative and fast-growing company specializing in the restoration and customization of the Land Rover Defender. We literally rebuild the Defender from the ground up! Each Defender is tailored to the customer’s wishes, meaning every vehicle is unique and no two workdays are ever the same!
Our unique Defenders can be found driving all over the world, both conventionally powered with roaring American V8 engines, and electrically powered through our self-developed EV Defender. We are now taking the next step with our own smart e-axle, and that’s where we need your expertise. Your responsibilities will range from concept development and CAD design to prototyping and structural validation. You will work closely with engineers from other disciplines within a small, multidisciplinary team where you will have a great deal of freedom and personal responsibility.
As a Structural Engineer, you will be involved in:
- Contributing to the development of the structural concept of the smart e-axle
- Identifying primary load paths and designing components around them
- CAD design and technical detailing of structural components
- Performing structural analyses (hand calculations and FEM)
- Building and testing prototypes
- Collaborating with teams working on powertrain, control systems, and vehicle dynamics
- Contributing ideas for optimization in weight, stiffness, and manufacturability
- An experienced Structural Engineer with an innate feel for structures. Someone who immediately recognizes primary load paths and can shape structural components into elegant and efficient solutions.
- A completed university degree (MSc) in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a comparable technical field
- Several years of relevant work experience at an engineering company or within a Formula Student team
- Strong intuitive understanding of structural mechanics: you are able to determine 80% of the final design through experience and intuition before starting calculations
- Experience with FEM analysis is a plus, but not a substitute for structural insight
- Strong CAD design skills and the ability to translate ideas into manufacturable components
- You enjoy physically realizing and testing your own designs
- You work independently, in a structured manner, and can switch easily between different disciplines
