You have experience in designing and implementing data solutions and advising development teams, with a strong focus on cloud‑based Big Data and Data Lake platforms, Data Catalogs, (Advanced) Analytics, and AI/BI solutions. You have worked in organisations with complex, dataintensive IT landscapes. You pursue to understand the business processes they support to provide optimal solutions.
With 477 thousand flights, 70 million passengers a year, hundreds of shops, businesses and buildings, data is everywhere at Schiphol Airport. As Solution Architect, you support our organisation to become more data-driven by upping our Data Architecture game, supporting our goal to be one of the top 3 airports of Europe. You have a crucial role in helping to connect the Netherlands with the rest of the world at Schiphol Airport. This journey is not without challenges: reducing the complexity of our data landscape and promoting/adopting standard solutions are critical for success, close alignment with our Business Platforms is essential and security by design a given.
To meet these challenges, you will help apply and evolve architectural standards, building blocks, patterns, and principles which support scalable and reliable data and AI solutions. As a Solution Architect, you will work closely with the other teams in the Data & AI department, Product Teams in our Business Platforms and Solution and Enterprise architects in other departments to translate architectural principles into practical designs that fit both the enterprise landscape and day‑to‑day delivery. Together with other Solution Architects and other colleagues in your team, you work on embedding standard architectural patterns in an organisation, making them easier to understand, more efficient and more effective. You build trust by listening to challenges teams face, focusing on enablement rather than enforcement. As a Solution Architect, you are successful when:
The quality and consistency of data and AI solutions improve measurably across Product Teams, reflected in better architectural alignment, reuse of standards, and fewer design-related issues.
Architectural standards, building blocks, principles, and patterns are clearly defined and actively applied and documented, enabling teams to deliver solutions that fit both the enterprise landscape and the data strategy.
Product Teams and other stakeholders understand and value architectural guidance, demonstrated by early involvement of architecture, informed design decisions, and adherence to agreed standards.
Architectural trade‑offs between business needs, technical constraints, and risk are resolved effectively, through pragmatic advice and designs that balance speed, scalability, reliability, and compliance.
In this role you will report to the Manager Data Platform.
