Metrology System Engineer at QED Technologies Europe Location: Delft, Netherlands

Join QED Technologies Europe and work some of the world’s most precise optical measurement systems. In this role, you combine knowledge of (optical) metrology and calibration methods with a multi-disciplinary system design approach, contributing directly to high-impact applications in semiconductor manufacturing and astronomy. You’ll have the opportunity to shape the next generation of our metrology platforms in close collaboration with our US-based parent company.
What you will do:
As a Metrology System Engineer, you are part of the Systems, Mechatronics & Metrology team within the Development & Engineering department. You work in a multidisciplinary environment where software, physics, and mechatronics come together.
Your key responsibilities:
- Thorough multi-disciplinary understanding of system error sources and their impact on measurement accuracy
- Continuously improve the measurement accuracy of our machines by innovative (self) calibration techniques, both the tooling design and the data-processing software
- Engineer new metrology functionality on existing platforms, based on market needs identified by the sales department
- Collaborate with the system architect on design, error budgeting and analysis of the metrology aspects for new instruments
- For experienced applicants the system architecting aspect for new platform developments will be more dominant

What you bring
You are a pragmatic and structured Metrology System Engineer who enjoys working in a multidisciplinary, hands-on environment. You communicate clearly, collaborate easily, and like to see your work come to life in real machines. Your profile includes:
- Master’s or PhD degree in Precision mechanics or Physics, or a related engineering field
- 3–5 years of experience in precision engineering for Systems Engineer level 1, and 5-10 years experience for level 2
- Creative teamplayer, capable of defining and communicating requirements and interfaces
- Hands-on experience with setting up and executing measurements
- Understanding of precision engineering design principles, system engineering and architecting and metrology loop design and analysis
- Experience with Matlab and C#, preferably also some 3D CAD (SolidWorks)
- Excellent command of English (spoken and written)
