CSMART is currently looking for an Electrical Instructor for our Technical Department for 40 hours per week, with a focus on delivering high-quality training programs, supporting continuous improvement through simulation-based learning, and integrating current and emerging electrical technologies, systems, and procedures.
To achieve and maintain the highest maritime standards, you will continuously develop your expertise in electrical systems and emerging shipboard technologies, tailoring your knowledge to the evolving needs of the cruise industry. Applicants must possess strong technical skills, a high degree of self-motivation, and the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
The role focuses on training provided to cruise ship electrical and technical officers. You will contribute by bringing your operational expertise to the training center and sharing this knowledge with the training department staff members.
Key Responsibilities

Delivering training to shipboard electrical and technical staff.

Delivering courses according to the CSMART course delivery process.

Acting as a representative of the corporate safety culture and promoting this attitude with participants.

Developing and updating courses and procedures to be implemented onboard ships.

Keeping up to date with current practices, technology, Carnival procedures, and international regulations.

Liaising with the Operations Support team and other instructors to ensure everything is prepared prior to the start of the course.

Following up with underperforming and outstanding participant processes.

Managing equipment including simulators and addressing any deficiencies.

Staying abreast of the latest developments in teaching techniques and the use of simulators as a teaching aid.

Continuously developing expertise within the electrical discipline to serve as a trusted subject matter expert and specialized trainer.

Reviewing relevant case studies for the subject being taught.

Understudying other courses at CSMART.

Visiting ships to stay updated with ship operations and electrical systems.
Requirements & Experience
-
Experience should be or have been in the role of 1st Electrical Engineer at minimum.

Experience as a Senior Electrical Engineer, Superintendent, or Subject Matter Expert in the maritime field is valuable.

Cruise ship experience highly preferred; experience with Carnival Corporation brands is an asset.

Analytical and structured thinker with strong problem-solving skills.

Experience in teaching/instructing would be an asset.

Fluent in written and spoken English.

Proficient in Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and knowledgeable about computers and network software.
