Tiro Partners are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our client as the Head of Data Engineering with a focus on Azure data topics. In this role, you will be responsible for leading and overseeing all aspects of data engineering, with a specific emphasis on leveraging Azure services and technologies. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, build, and maintain data solutions that drive business intelligence, analytics, and data-driven decision making. As the Head of Data Engineering, you will play a crucial role in shaping the data strategy and architecture, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security of our data infrastructure.

Responsibilities:

Lead and manage a team of data engineers, providing technical guidance, mentoring, and performance evaluations.
Develop and execute a comprehensive data engineering strategy aligned with business objectives, with a particular focus on leveraging Azure data technologies.
Collaborate with business stakeholders, data scientists, and analysts to understand data requirements and translate them into scalable data engineering solutions.
Design and implement scalable data pipelines, data integration workflows, and ETL processes using Azure data services such as Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, and Azure Synapse Analytics.
Architect and maintain data storage solutions on Azure, including Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure Blob Storage, and Azure SQL Database.
Ensure data quality and integrity by implementing data governance processes, data validation techniques, and data lineage tracking.
Optimise data workflows and pipelines for performance, reliability, and cost-effectiveness, leveraging Azure monitoring and optimisation tools.
Stay up to date with the latest trends and advancements in Azure data technologies and propose innovative solutions to enhance our data engineering capabilities.
Collaborate with IT and security teams to ensure compliance with data privacy regulations and implement robust data security practices.
Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning within the data engineering team.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field.
Extensive experience in data engineering and data architecture, with a focus on Azure data technologies.
In-depth knowledge of Azure data services, including Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Data Lake Storage, and Azure SQL Database.
Strong proficiency in SQL, Python, and other relevant programming languages for data engineering and transformation.
Demonstrated experience in designing and building scalable data pipelines, ETL processes, and data integration workflows.
Solid understanding of data governance principles, data quality assurance, and data security best practices.
Experience in leading and managing a team of data engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.
Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyse complex data requirements and architect innovative solutions.
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to effectively convey technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
Relevant certifications in Azure data technologies (e.g. Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate) are a plus.
