Who we are
ADC is a boutique Data and AI consultancy with offices in the Netherlands, Sweden, and Denmark, and an award-winning data design studio (CLEVER°FRANKE) embedded in the group. We help data-driven leaders in complex, high-stakes environments move fast without losing control. We deliver four core outcomes: growing revenue and margin, moving from AI pilots to scale, reducing risk while staying confidently compliant, and building data products people love to use.
We are a collective of statisticians, designers, PhDs, and agentic AI engineers with deep expertise in the industries we serve: financial services, life sciences, the public sector, retail, agriculture, and transportation. We do not arrive with generic tools and a slide deck. We walk in, work alongside the people who know the organisation best, and build solutions that actually run.
We call ourselves Wayfinders. Our clients trust us to navigate complexity and make it real: turning ambition into action in environments where the margin for error is small and the consequences of getting it wrong are real, for customers, employees, supply chains, and the bottom line.
Help us shape the future of ADC
We're leveraging our expertise in advanced analytics, machine learning, and business intelligence to power ADC's growth and deliver unmatched value to our clients.
We are looking for a Senior Decision Scientist who is deeply passionate about predictive modelling, causal inference, and optimisation to partner with our Retail team on a freelance basis. You will spearhead our advanced pricing initiatives for a leading e-commerce client, building robust forecasting models that directly impact commercial strategy.
This isn’t a standard analytics role. You’ll be part of a true collective, working alongside highly specialized decision science teams. It’s about understanding complex methodologies to a deep research level, connecting predictive insights with operations research, and deploying state-of-the-art causal machine learning techniques that shape dynamic pricing on a massive scale.
Where you’ll make an impact
-
Drive advanced forecasting for e-commerce pricing
-
Develop and scale Machine Learning models for forecasting longitudinal data to optimize pricing strategies.
-
Utilize advanced techniques such as tree-based models, boosting, bagging, ensemble methods, LightGBM, XGBoost, and related methods.
-
Champion causal machine learning and inference
-
Apply causal inference methods on observational data to understand true commercial impact.
-
Implement advanced frameworks such as DoubleML, potential outcomes modeling, two-way fixed effects models, interactive fixed effects models, and unobserved factor models.
-
Collaborate deeply with expert technical teams
-
Work hand-in-hand with our client’s internal decisions science teams (who primarily hold PhDs in quantitative fields), sparring on complex methodologies and operations research at a rigorous academic and practical level.
-
Support a culture of clarity and continuous improvement
-
Question how we model today, spot opportunities for better algorithms or optimization techniques, and translate highly complex data science concepts into actionable business value.
What you bring
At ADC, we're not just consultants: we're leading experts in Data & AI, using our expertise in strategy, business operations, and advanced analytics. What unites us is a shared way of working: breaking down complex challenges to change how organisations operate.
For this role, that means:
-
Senior-level expertise: You bring significant experience in decisions data science or machine learning.
-
Strong academic foundation: A PhD in Machine Learning, Computer Science, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Mathematics, or a highly related quantitative field is strongly preferred and a great indication of the methodological depth required for this role.
-
Deep technical toolkit: Extensive hands-on experience in ML methods for forecasting longitudinal data (LightGBM, XGBoost, ensemble methods) and causal machine learning / causal inference methods (DoubleML, fixed effects models, potential outcomes).
-
Domain knowledge: Experience applying forecasting, optimization (operations research), and causal inference specifically for pricing in retail and e-commerce settings is particularly desirable.
-
The ability to communicate with anyone in the room: From client PhD researchers to commercial leadership, you manage stakeholders credibly and adapt your highly technical message to the audience.
-
A proactive and entrepreneurial mindset: You’re eager to solve challenging problems, innovate, and drive change.
-
A collaborative spirit: You believe the best solutions come from diverse perspectives and supporting each other to raise the bar.
-
Fluency in English; Dutch is a plus.
What’s in it for you
At ADC, we value our freelance partners as true extensions of our collective. We bring you on board for your deep expertise, giving you the space to deliver exceptional work on projects that matter. That means:
-
Impact you can point to: You’ll see your work in action, directly shaping how leading e-commerce organisations make pricing and forecasting decisions at scale.
-
The freedom to innovate: We hire you for your senior expertise. You’ll have the autonomy to recommend better ways to build models, propose smarter algorithms, and challenge the status quo.
-
True partnership: You won’t be working in a silo. You’ll collaborate closely with our internal experts and the client's PhD researchers, sparring on complex methodologies at the highest academic and practical level.
-
Competitive compensation & flexibility: We offer highly competitive freelance rates that match your seniority, along with the flexibility to manage your working hours and deliver on clear, structured project goals.
-
An inclusive culture: Even as a freelancer, you’re part of the team. You are always welcome to join our daily lunches, Friday drinks, and social events whenever you are at the office.
