You will own C Teleport's billing engine end to end (invoicing, payments, reconciliation, revenue recognition, and tax compliance), the system our global crew-travel platform runs on. Can you research a VAT rule, turn it into a precise spec an engineer can build against, and ship a change that has to be right the first time? Then read on.
Billing is where correctness meets money. Every manual reconciliation, failed payment, or late invoice costs us cash and trust. We need one owner who holds the whole domain, not a coordinator passing tickets between Finance and Engineering, but the person accountable for what ships being both correct and compliant.
We move maritime, aviation, and energy crews around the world, automating high-stakes travel that used to be run by hand. We're a lean, international scale-up: small squads, real ownership, and decisions made close to the work.
The billing roadmap. Own a 2–3 quarter roadmap across invoicing, payments, reconciliation, revenue recognition, and tax; every item chosen because it advances the strategy, balanced against the integrity of what already runs.
Correct-and-compliant delivery. Write clear user stories and precise acceptance criteria engineers can build against. You own that what ships is right, not just that departments talked to each other.
Regulatory ownership. Research accounting standards (revenue recognition, accruals, audit trails) and VAT/GST rules across jurisdictions yourself, then validate them with Finance and external advisors. The decisions are yours to own, with their backing, not in isolation.
Continuous improvement. Cut manual reconciliation, improve cash collection, automate refunds and dispute handling, and remove error-prone manual steps.
The commercial filter. Translate contracts and pricing models into product capabilities, and validate Sales commitments and timelines through product before they become promises.
The metrics. Define and act on billing KPIs (DSO, failed-payment rate, reconciliation accuracy, invoice timeliness), surfacing improvements from the data, not just from inbound requests.
By 2 months: you own the backlog and roadmap, and Finance and Engineering come to you for billing decisions.
By 5 months: you've established clear baselines for billing health (reconciliation effort, failed payments, DSO, invoice timeliness) and shipped your first measurable improvements against them.
By 7 months: the billing domain runs on your roadmap, fewer manual workflows, a cleaner financial close, and a delivery track record the squad trusts.
3+ years hands-on as a Product Owner or Product Manager in billing, payments, invoicing, or revenue operations — in a scale-up or high-growth SaaS/fintech, shipping in small teams. Enterprise-only, analyst-supported backgrounds are not a fit.
Working knowledge of accounting fundamentals — revenue recognition, accrual vs. cash, reconciliation, audit trails, VAT/GST mechanics — enough to explain them to an engineer without a finance specialist in the room.
Hands-on feature delivery against payment gateways, ERP, or accounting systems (SAP, NetSuite, Xero, or similar). You know what "correct" looks like when you ship it.
You own backlog rigor yourself — user stories, acceptance criteria, prioritisation — with no analyst team behind you.
You already live in the Netherlands and can be on-site in Rotterdam 3 days/week (see Location & work authorization).
Multi-currency or multi-entity billing exposure.
Regulated financial-services background (banking, insurance, fintech).
B2B or enterprise SaaS billing models.
Degree in Business, Finance, or Computer Science, or equivalent hands-on experience counts equally.
…an enterprise coordination role. If you've only orchestrated across departments with analysts and a Compliance team doing the domain work, this will frustrate you.
…an engineering role. You own precise specs and technical judgment alongside IT — you don't write the production code yourself.
…a Head-of / Director seat. This is a hands-on individual-contributor Product Owner who owns one domain deeply, with room to grow. It is not a people-management or multi-squad-strategy role.
You must already be living in the Netherlands, able to work on-site in Rotterdam 3 days/week. We do not relocate candidates from abroad. If you currently hold an active Dutch Highly Skilled Migrant (kennismigrant) permit, we can take over your sponsorship.
Gross monthly salary of €5,500–€6,200, depending on experience. Hybrid working (3 days/week in Rotterdam), 25+ vacation days, 8% holiday allowance, pension, commute reimbursement, and (where applicable) support with the Dutch 30% ruling.
