As a Technician, you will support researchers and PhD candidates in maintaining, optimizing, and modifying electronic research setups and laboratory equipment. You will help ensure the reliable operation of research facilities and play an active role in solving technical challenges.
Depending on your experience and expertise, your primary focus will be on the management, maintenance, and improvement of existing research equipment. You will also act in an advisory capacity regarding the development and enhancement of experimental setups.
- Maintain, repair, and optimize electronic research setups and laboratory equipment.
- Analyze and resolve technical malfunctions and operational issues.
- Support researchers and PhD candidates in the use of measurement equipment and experimental systems.
- Advise on technical improvements and optimizations of research setups.
- Contribute to the continuity, safety, and quality of the research infrastructure.
- Where applicable, assist with measurement automation, instrument control, and programming activities.
You are a practical and solution-oriented technician who is able to work independently in a dynamic research environment.
- A completed degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or a related technical field.
- Experience with electronic systems, measurement equipment, and laboratory instrumentation.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve technical issues and challenges.
- Strong technical and analytical skills.
- A meticulous approach to work and a strong commitment to quality.
- A proactive mindset, with the ability to identify and implement improvements.
- Flexibility to respond to a wide range of technical support requests.
- A temporary appointment of 0.5 FTE (20 hours per week) for a period of six months.
- A competitive salary and employment conditions in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities (CAO-NU).
- Salary scale 8 or 9 (ranging from €3,382 to €5,057 gross per month on a full-time basis), depending on your education, experience, and level of independence.
- 8% holiday allowance and an 8.3% year-end bonus.

- For a full-time appointment (38 hours per week), a minimum of 232 vacation hours per year. As a full-time position at the University of Twente is typically based on a 40-hour working week in practice, employees also receive 96 additional leave hours annually (pro rata for part-time appointments).

This temporary appointment is intended to ensure the continuity of research activities within the Physics of Interfaces and Nanomaterials (PIN) group during the absence of a staff member.
