About the role
KPN's ProTect team is seeking a Senior (Cloud) Security Consultant to advise business and DevOps teams on secure cloud workload implementation. This is a consultancy role with a strong technical foundation, where you will translate CISO policies into actionable guidance for over 100 teams across the Netherlands and offshore. You will bring an outside-in perspective, share best practices, and help the team grow through hands-on expertise and strategic advice.
Responsibilities

Advise business and DevOps teams on secure cloud migration and workload implementation, validating security quality throughout the process

Secure containerised environments (Docker, Kubernetes) and serverless architectures

Perform threat modelling on system architecture to identify and mitigate risks

Analyse cloud security non-compliances, determine root causes, and define solutions

Collaborate with cloud platform engineering teams to design and operationalise new cloud security features

Manage vulnerabilities and misconfigurations on a regular basis

Implement cloud security solutions including WAF, endpoint protection, system hardening, and IAM

Analyse technical security questions and provide expert recommendations

Create templates, automations, and paved roads to enable scalable delivery

Work with modern CI/CD pipelines and security tooling to uphold DevSecOps practices

Support security training and awareness programmes as needed
Work environment
You will join a team of 7 internal members with diverse expertise spanning privacy, AI, web applications, and pipeline security. The team is a mix of introverts and extroverts working collaboratively. Primary location is Amsterdam with a hybrid policy of 2–3 days in the office; attendance is required on Thursdays for the team day. You will work with over 100 DevOps teams across complex corporate environments.
Requirements

Minimum 5 years of experience in a security consultancy role

Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience with AWS and Azure cloud security (4 years preferred)

Deep knowledge of Kubernetes and container security

Experience with GitHub pipelines and integrating security tooling within CI/CD

Strong understanding of DevSecOps, Infrastructure as Code, and IAM permissions

Excellent analytical ability in complex corporate system setups

Naturally curious with a track record of proactively identifying and mitigating risks

Extroverted, communicative, and energetic profile with ability to engage and train teams

Fluent in English; Dutch is a nice-to-have but not mandatory

AWS Security Specialty certification is a significant advantage

Understanding of AI workloads and AI security is preferred

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
