We're looking for an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Senior Project Manager (3–5 years' experience) to join our growing team and help drive meaningful change across the food and consumer goods sector. As we expand our work in Europe with medium-sized companies to build critical mass and increase our impact, you will play a key role in supporting clients to define ambitious environmental and social sourcing commitments and turn them into practical, on-the-ground action. This is an exciting opportunity for a project manager with strong delivery skills and expertise in areas such as nature, climate and/or social sustainability, who wants to shape programmes that create lasting value for people, businesses and the environment.
About Proforest
Proforest is a mission-driven organisation that provides a consultancy service working throughout agricultural supply chains supporting the production and sourcing of agricultural and forest commodities that deliver positive outcomes for People, Nature and Climate. These cover issues such as protecting and restoring forests and natural ecosystems, respecting worker’s rights, advancing gender equality, supporting smallholder inclusion and engaging with communities and indigenous people. While this role will focus primarily on our European portfolio, it also offers opportunities to contribute to projects with global reach and impact.
Our Responsible Sourcing team brings together a global network of technical experts specialising in environmental sustainability, climate and human rights across agricultural and forestry supply chains. We work with leading multinational companies, including Nestlé, PepsiCo, Mars, The Coca-Cola Company and Cargill, as well as European regional market leaders such as Lindt and Jerónimo Martins, supporting responsible sourcing initiatives across major global and European agricultural supply chains.
Job Description
What will you do?
In this role, you will support a portfolio of projects, focussing primarily on European agricultural supply chains.
Key responsibilities include:

Managing client projects, including planning, resourcing, budgets, subcontractors and invoicing

Leading or contributing to client deliverable by providing technical expertise on strategy and action plans, supplier engagement programmes, landscape and collaboration initiatives, monitoring & reporting

Facilitating client meetings and maintaining client relationships are maintained; Managing and mentoring junior team members

Internal knowledge-sharing, potentially become a subject matter expert in a particular area (depending on experience)

Producing clear, high-quality reports and documentation

Qualifications
About you
You are self-motivated, have passion for our mission and are eager to develop your knowledge and skills further. You will have:
Essential:

A masters’ level qualification (or above) in a relevant field, such as environmental issues (e.g., land use, water, biodiversity, climate adaptation and mitigation) or social issues (e.g., human rights, smallholder livelihoods)

Proven Experience in agriculture/commodity supply chain

3-5y Professional experience in a consultancy or private sector role within Europe, working in or with: food and consumer good companies and agricultural commodity supply chains.

Practical experience of working with companies to implement EU legislations such as EUDR, CS3D, CSRD

Excellent communication skills and confidence presenting to clients

Proven project management skills with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders and deadlines

Advanced proficiency in written and spoken English.
Desirable:

Knowledge of EU languages such as Spanish, French, German, Polish or Portuguese

Relevant topic knowledge and/or experience within a global agricultural context.

Hybrid working: Proforest operates on a hybrid basis. The role requires office attendance twice a week. We encourage staff to attend the office regularly to maximise interactions with colleagues and encourage collaboration, but we also appreciate individual circumstances and preferences. We’d expect more office attendance at the start of employment to enable a smooth induction.
