The Role
As IT Manager, you own GoSpooky's IT and information security end to end. You set the strategy, keep around 100 Spookies productive and secure across two locations, and make sure our technology, data and compliance can keep pace with our growth.
This is a hands-on role, not a purely strategic one. You'll run the function day to day while building it for the future. Right now the team is you and an IT Coordinator; you'll share the takes while also providing management, and see which additional roles are needed based on the work and company direction.
You'll be the accountable owner for our ISO 27001 certification and GDPR compliance and the one who keeps roughly 70 SaaS tools, a macOS fleet and hundreds of terabytes of data safe from loss and leakage. You'll also own the technology budget, vendor relationships, contracts and the managed services we depend on.
Just as importantly, you'll make IT better, not just keep it running. You'll improve and redesign workflows, upgrade and modernise our systems, and build automation between the different tools so they connect and run themselves. You will manage permissions and access across all our tooling and data, and oversee IT onboarding and offboarding. You're as comfortable designing how something should work as you are fixing it when it breaks.
You'll work 40 hours per week, on-site in Amsterdam.
What you’ll do
You'll be the backbone of GoSpooky's technology, keeping it secure, efficient and always improving, while building the team and processes to scale with the company. Tasks include:
- Owning IT and information security strategy, including the technology budget, purchasing, contracts and asset management
- Managing the IT Coordinator while also sharing the day-to-day work
- Assessing which further roles are needed as everyday demand and the company's direction evolve
- Acting as the accountable owner for ISO 27001 (including the monthly checks and audit readiness) and GDPR, DPIAs and data protection across our tooling
- Running the intake and risk assessment of new software, SaaS and AI tools, with continuous attention to data leakage and secure use
- Improving and redesigning workflows, upgrading and modernising systems, and building automation between our different tools so they can run themselves
- Overseeing access and permissions, including managing rights and segregation of duties across all our tooling and data, and choosing the right tooling to handle that.
- Overseeing our macOS fleet and MDM, network across two locations, hundreds of terabytes of data, NAS storage and backup integrity
- Managing vendors and managed-service partners (firewall, backup, awareness training and more), and governing their performance and contracts
- Leading on everyday security operations, and spotting opportunities to automate and improve our systems
- Managing onboarding, offboarding, and first-line support at scale to continuously improve the employee experience.
What we’re looking for
- An HBO/WO degree in IT or a related field, with solid hands-on experience in IT operations and information security, and some experience leading or building a team (or the clear ambition and readiness to start)
- Strong working knowledge of macOS and Google Workspace environments, plus MDM, networking and SaaS management
- Practical experience with ISO 27001 and GDPR, and comfortable owning compliance rather than just supporting it
- A feel for automation and integration: you like connecting systems and removing manual work, and you can design how something should work, not just operate it
- Fluent in both Dutch and English
- Equal parts planner and fixer: you can define how things should work and then make it happen, turning a reactive IT function into one built to scale.
- Proactive and security-minded: you see risks and problems before they happen and can't wait to solve them
- Service-minded with the judgment to balance moving fast against keeping the company safe and compliant
