Do you get energy from developing scalable backend solutions and making smart technical decisions? At Sportunity, we develop digital platforms for events, municipalities and organisations in sport, physical activity and culture. Our platforms are growing quickly and are being used more intensively all the time. That is why we are expanding our development team and looking for an experienced Backend Developer to help strengthen our technical foundation.

Whats your role?

You will be responsible for designing, developing and maintaining the technical foundation of our platforms. You will build APIs, work on database structures, integrate external systems and ensure that our applications remain secure, fast and scalable. You will work closely with frontend developers, product managers and designers to deliver new features. You will also actively contribute ideas on architecture, code quality and the use of AI within our products and development processes.

What are we looking for

You have an interest in AI and understand how AI tools can contribute to better products and more efficient development
You work well independently, but are also a true team player
Strong knowledge of PHP 8.x and modern programming principles
Experience with the Laravel Framework
Knowledge of object-oriented programming and SOLID principles
Experience with relational databases such as MySQL
Experience with API development, including REST and ideally GraphQL
Familiarity with version control using Git
Experience writing automated tests, including Unit, Feature and Integration tests
Understanding of CI/CD processes and deployment pipelines
Experience with container technologies such as Docker
You actively contribute to code reviews and quality assurance
You recognise technical debt and propose improvements
