At Vysus Group, we are entering an exciting phase of growth and innovation. We partner with organisations across the global nuclear sector, providing expert engineering, safety, licensing, risk and operational excellence services that support the safe, reliable and sustainable delivery of nuclear energy.
As the industry embarks on a new era driven by plant life extension programmes, new nuclear build projects and the emergence of Small Modular Reactors (SMRs), we are expanding our Rotterdam-based nuclear team to support a growing portfolio of projects across Europe.
This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious Nuclear Consultant to develop their expertise, work alongside industry-leading specialists and contribute to some of the most innovative nuclear programmes in the world.
As a Nuclear Consultant, you will support the delivery of multidisciplinary projects across nuclear safety, licensing, risk assessment and engineering analysis. Working closely with experienced consultants and technical specialists, you will contribute to projects for nuclear power plant operators, SMR developers, engineering organisations, research institutions and regulatory bodies throughout Europe.
This role offers significant opportunities for professional development, exposure to cutting-edge technologies and involvement in projects that are helping to shape the future of clean energy.
In this role, you will:
- Perform deterministic and probabilistic safety assessments (DSA and PSA).
- Support nuclear licensing activities, including the development of safety cases, PSARs, SARs and regulatory submissions.
- Contribute to engineering and design reviews from a nuclear safety perspective.
- Participate in hazard assessments, including internal and external hazards, radiation protection and severe accident studies.
- Support emergency preparedness, operational safety and risk management projects.
- Assist in the development of operating procedures, technical documentation and engineering guidance.
- Utilise specialist software and analytical tools, including RiskSpectrum, RELAP5, TRACE, MELCOR, CFD and Python-based applications.
- Prepare high-quality technical reports, presentations and client deliverables.
- Collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary project teams across multiple locations.
- Deliver technically robust and client-focused engineering solutions.
- Develop your technical capabilities through structured training, mentorship and project experience.
- Support business development activities, including proposal and tender preparation.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of engineering methodologies, tools and best practices.
We're looking for individuals who are technically curious, eager to learn and passionate about making a meaningful contribution to the nuclear industry.
You will ideally have:
- An MSc degree in Nuclear Engineering, Physics, Mathematics or a related technical discipline.
- A solid understanding of nuclear safety principles and a desire to further develop expertise in safety assessment, risk analysis and licensing.
- Experience with, or a willingness to learn, industry-standard tools such as RiskSpectrum, RELAP5, TRACE, MELCOR, CFD software and Python.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Dutch language skills would be advantageous but are not essential.
- The ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary and international teams.
- A proactive approach to learning, professional development and client service.
At Vysus, you'll have the opportunity to work on projects that matter—helping to ensure the safe operation of existing nuclear facilities while supporting the development of next-generation reactor technologies.
We offer:
- The opportunity to work with a globally recognised team of nuclear specialists.
- Exposure to advanced reactor, Gen IV and SMR programmes.
- A competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package.
- Flexible and hybrid working arrangements.
- Structured training, mentoring and continuous professional development.
- Clear opportunities for technical progression and career growth.
- An inclusive, collaborative and supportive working environment.
