We are unable to support relocation or sponsorship for this role. Applicants must be based in the Netherlands, eligible to work and able to commute onsite to Amsterdam to be considered.
Monumental is automating on-site construction with robotics and software. Our mission is to make construction software-defined and autonomous - a future where beautiful, bespoke buildings go up in a single day, with minimal labour.
We're a growing team of engineers, operators and technicians from companies like Palantir, Qualcomm, Dyson, Shopify, Tesla, Meta and Google DeepMind. It's still the early days of building the company, and this is a chance to make an outsized impact on a problem that matters. We build the whole stack in-house - hardware and software. From day one, you'll work with an experienced founding team.
Monumental is based in the city centre of Amsterdam, in a beautiful facility with an fully equipped workshop and robot testing floor. We're explicitly not a hybrid or remote-first company - you can't build robots or walls from home, so we're onsite five days a week.

We're looking for a reliable working student to take ownership of our OptiTrack motion capture calibration process in the evenings and over weekends. This is a rare chance to get hands-on experience inside one of Amsterdam's most exciting robotics startups. You'll be trusted with real equipment and real responsibility from day one. You are also welcome to come in earlier than 5pm, on days were possible to study/work from our HQ before starting your shift and learn from some of the brightest minds.
What you'll do
You'll take over from our engineering team at 5pm and run the show until 11pm, and run the entire process over the weekend from 10am to 4pm. That means driving our robots to and from the calibration area using a Nintendo-style nunchuk controller, carefully setting up the test space, starting and monitoring the automated calibration procedure, and logging any issues you encounter for our engineers to address.
A significant portion of the shift is supervised monitoring of an automated process, making it ideal for someone who wants to study or focus while on the clock, without being hands-off when it counts. We will train you up so your comfortable running calibrations alone: you’ll get to learn from our team of computer vision engineers who have invented our entire calibration process! Safety is important to us, so you will be responsible for locking up our HQ once done for the day.
What we're looking for
You're a night owl and someone we can count on: this is a non-negotiable. You have sharp attention to detail and take pride in doing things right. A background in software engineering or a related technical field is a plus, as is comfort around hardware and robotics setups.
