During this internship, you will work on developing a tool that can generate both documentation and software protocols from a single source file. There is already an initial concept, but it still needs further development and implementation.
What will you do?
You will be part of the software team working on our battery systems. While you’ll have your own assignment, you are also part of the team and will collaborate with different colleagues. The main focus of your internship is developing a generative tool for documentation and protocols, combining software development with AI-related applications.
Your tasks will include:
Developing a tool that generates documentation and protocols from a single source file
Applying AI tooling / LLMs within the solution
Gathering requirements from end users and translating these into functionality
Contributing to the further development and implementation of the existing concept
Who are you?
You enjoy working on technical challenges and can work independently, while also being comfortable collaborating with others. You also recognize yourself in the following:
You are currently enrolled in an HBO or WO program in software (e.g. Computer Science, Software Engineering)
You are familiar with Python or another high-level programming language to develop applications
You have experience with programming
You are interested in AI, LLMs or automation
Experience with front-end and/or back-end development is a plus
You are familiar with Windows and/or Linux
You have a good command of English (Dutch is a plus, but not required)
What do we offer?
You will work on a concrete assignment that will actually be used in practice. You’ll be part of the team, receive guidance where needed, and have enough freedom to figure things out on your own. In addition, we offer:
An internship allowance of €500 per month
A Windows laptop from Alfen
The possibility to work partly from home (guideline: 3 days in the office)
An environment where you can learn from different disciplines
About the team
You will join a multidisciplinary team of around 15 colleagues working on the software for our battery systems. The team includes software developers, electrical and mechanical engineers, testers, and technical writers. There are different product teams (such as a core team and a gridtech team) and but there is a lot of collaboration. This gives you a good understanding of how a product is developed from different perspectives.
About Alfen
Alfen has been around for over 80 years and plays an important role in today’s energy grid. The company develops and produces transformer substations, energy storage systems, and EV charging equipment. Many of these products are designed and built in-house in Almere, contributing daily to solutions needed for the energy transition.
