About the role.
As the Production Manager, you will lead the production organization at our McCain Appetizers manufacturing operation in the Netherlands, ensuring a safe, efficient, and high-performing production environment. You will be responsible for driving operational excellence across production and packaging activities, maintaining food safety and quality standards, developing team capability, and delivering continuous improvement initiatives that support business performance and long-term growth.
What you'll be doing.

Lead and promote a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance with all safety systems, standards, and leading indicators.

Ensure compliance with food safety, quality, regulatory, and audit requirements while supporting a customer-focused culture.

Drive production performance, efficiency, and operational continuity across production and packaging operations.

Develop organizational capability through workforce planning, training programs, succession planning, and talent development initiatives.

Optimize utilization of labour, raw materials, energy, and water while reducing waste and improving operational effectiveness.

Lead continuous improvement and cost-efficiency initiatives using McCain Drive Impact (MDI) and other operational excellence tools.

Manage operational losses, production interruptions, inventory accuracy, and resource deployment.

Support product launches, product trials, process improvements, and cross-functional projects with R&D and other stakeholders.

Ensure effective use of SAP and operational reporting tools to monitor performance, identify opportunities, and drive corrective actions.

Implement and sustain 5S and housekeeping standards to maintain a well-organized manufacturing environment.

Contribute to the implementation of site and business strategies, including long-term production planning and execution.

Build engagement and accountability while leading teams through change and operational priorities.
What you'll need to be successful.

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Manufacturing, Food Science, or a related technical discipline.

Several years of leadership experience in a manufacturing or FMCG environment.

Experience leading teams in a complex, shift-based manufacturing operation.

Strong knowledge of food safety systems, quality standards, and regulatory compliance requirements.

Demonstrated experience driving continuous improvement, operational excellence, and cost-reduction initiatives.

Strong analytical and structured problem-solving skills with the ability to resolve complex operational challenges.

Experience with production performance management, workforce planning, and people development.

Proficiency in SAP, Microsoft Office, and manufacturing reporting systems.

Fluent in Dutch and English.

Excellent communication, planning, organizational, and change leadership capabilities.
About the team.
The Production Manager reports to the Director Manufacturing and plays a critical leadership role within the site leadership structure. The position leads approximately 7-10 direct reports across production-related functions and provides indirect leadership to approximately 180 production and sanitation employees operating within a 24/5 manufacturing environment. This role partners closely with Maintenance, Food Safety & Quality, Safety, Planning, Procurement, Finance, HR, and R&D teams to deliver site performance and operational excellence.
