In a nutshell
As a Mechanical Development Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, development and industrialization of mechanical subsystems for high-tech machines. You will translate complex customer and product requirements into robust, reliable and manufacturable mechanical solutions, guiding designs from concept through to release for production.
You will work in close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams in an international environment, playing a key role in delivering high-quality, first-time-right designs and taking ownership of subsystem architecture and technical decision-making.
Your area of responsibility:
Translate customer and product requirements into clear mechanical concepts, architectures, and specifications, taking ownership of subsystem design strategy and key technical decisions
Design, develop, and industrialize mechanical subsystems from concept through production release
Create and maintain 3D CAD models, 2D drawings, and complete Bills of Materials (BOMs)
Perform mechanical analyses including strength, stiffness, lifetime, manufacturability, assembly, and serviceability
Own and maintain DFMEA and technical risk files, covering NVH, wear, and safety aspects
Lead and contribute to design reviews, making fact-based, data-driven engineering decisions
Support prototype builds, verification & validation activities, and (i)FAT testing
Manage engineering changes (ECR/ECO), configuration management, and version control
Deliver complete, compliant design packages ready for procurement and manufacturing, in line with QMS and CE / Machinery Directive requirements
Drive manufacturability and cost optimization through cross-functional co‑engineering with suppliers and internal stakeholders
Collaborate closely with Electrical & Software Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Service teams
Mentor junior and medior engineers and coordinate external engineering partners
Advise project management on technical scope, planning, dependencies, and risk management
Job requirements:
Hold a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics
Are fluent in Dutch
Have strong experience in machine building or mechatronics (typically 7–12+ years for senior level)
Are highly skilled in 3D CAD tools, preferably SolidWorks and PDM systems
Have a solid understanding of GD&T, tolerance stack-ups, materials and basic CAE / FEA
Have experience with DFMEA, verification planning and CE / Machinery Directive documentation
Have experience in technical leadership, coaching or mentoring (considered a plus)
Work in a structured way with a strong first-time-right mindset and sense of ownership
