As Senior Director, People Operations, you will lead the operational backbone of the People function across Catawiki's operating countries. You will set the strategic direction for People Operations, Payroll, Reward and Benefits, Compliance, Employee relations & Wellbeing, Facilities and Workplace Experience.
You will strengthen scalable and compliant operations while maintaining a consistent employee experience. This includes improving processes through automation, AI and self-service, strengthening governance and controls, and enabling better decisions through people insights.
- Define and own the strategic roadmap for People Operations, payroll, well-being and facilities, aligned with the Business and People strategy.
- Lead and develop the People Operations, payroll and facilities teams and well-being expert, establishing clear priorities, ownership, service standards and ways of working.
- Strengthen people operations across the employee lifecycle, including payroll, benefits, compensation operations, documentation and compliance, using automation, AI and self-service to improve scalability and efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with employment legislation, payroll, tax, audit and people-related ESG requirements, partnering with HRIS, Finance, Legal and external providers to maintain strong controls and resolve issues.
- Oversee employee relations, well-being and absence management, providing senior direction on complex cases and using data and insights to identify risks and improve policies and practices.
- Own the facilities and workplace experience strategy for the Amsterdam and Lisbon offices, ensuring effective operations and appropriate standards for health, safety, security and hybrid working.
- Act as a senior escalation point for complex people, operational and workplace matters, working closely with the CPO on employee relations and Works Council topics.
- Evolve and implement the reward and benefits strategy with the CPO, including compensation visibility, role and salary benchmarking, and sustainable, data-informed improvements.
- Bring 12+ years of relevant experience in an international, fast-growing organisation, with deep expertise in People Operations and experience in areas such as Reward, Employee Relations, well-being or Facilities.
- Demonstrate experience leading multi-country People Operations at scale, including payroll, benefits, compensation operations, compliance and process improvement.
- Apply strong knowledge of employment law and employee relations practices in the Netherlands and other European countries, with sound judgement on complex cases and when to involve legal specialists.
- Bring experience with reward and benefits programmes inside and outside the Netherlands, including role and salary benchmarking.
- Use data, automation and emerging technologies, including AI, to challenge existing processes, improve decision-making and build scalable ways of working.
- Translate strategy into practical execution while managing priorities effectively in a fast-paced, hybrid and international environment.
- Communicate effectively and build trusted relationships with employees, managers, senior leaders and external partners, with professional fluency in English; Dutch is a strong plus.
- Our People team of around 40 people, mainly based across Amsterdam and Lisbon, works collaboratively and openly, using data and AI to inform our thinking while staying closely connected to the needs of the business. We also make time to connect socially and enjoy working together.

- In this Sr Director role, you'll work closely with the CPO, People Leadership Team, People Business Partners, Talent Acquisition, HRIS, IT, Finance, Legal and business leaders across Catawiki.
This is a hybrid role based in Amsterdam. You will work from our Amsterdam HQ a minimum of 2 days per week.
