Priogen is an innovative energy trading company, based in Amsterdam. Our focus is on utilising in-depth fundamental analysis to forecast the impact of renewable energy output on the power and gas markets. Over the years we have honed our craft by continuously improving and expanding our in-house forecasting methodologies.
We primarily trade power across Europe in short- and medium-term markets and are looking for a highly motivated Desk Analyst to support our traders by providing fundamental market insights, data-driven analysis, and operational support.
What will you do?
- Provide real-time fundamental market analysis across power and gas markets to support trading and decision-making.
- Monitor and update key market drivers e.g. power plant availability, interconnector capacity.
- Translate market news, regulatory changes, and geopolitical developments into actionable trading insights.
- Conduct ad-hoc research and thematic analysis to support strategy development on the trading desk.
- Identify and integrate new datasets to enhance market understanding and trading performance in collaboration with data and other technology teams.
- Collaborate with traders, quants, risk, and tech teams to improve models, analytics, and data visualisation tools.
Who you are
- Master's degree in Econometrics, Finance, Engineering, Mathematics or another quantitative discipline.
- 2+ years' experience working in financial or energy markets.
- Highly analytical with strong quantitative skills and the ability to interpret complex datasets quickly and accurately.
- Deeply interested in or curious about energy markets.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where priorities shift rapidly.
- Proactive and detail-oriented, with the ability to independently monitor key market drivers and identify actionable insights.
- Skilled in coding and/or quantitative modelling (e.g. Python, SQL, Excel, or similar tools) and comfortable working with large datasets.
- Able to translate complex analysis into clear, concise insights for traders and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong collaborator and confident communicator who actively asks questions and challenges assumptions.
- Structured in way of working and organised and reliable for operational tasks.
- Resilient under pressure and comfortable making recommendations with incomplete information.
