Help us build the future of circular concrete
At everox, we are transforming waste concrete into high-value circular building materials. Our mission is ambitious: reducing the environmental impact of one of the world’s largest industries by creating sustainable alternatives for cement, sand and aggregates.
About everox
everox is pioneering the industrial-scale upcycling of waste concrete into drop-in substitutes for aggregates, sand, and supplementary cementitious materials. Founded in 2016 by Delft Enterprises, Delft University, and GBN, we are on a mission to help decarbonize the construction industry and make 100% circular concrete possible.
We are currently scaling from technology development and pilot operations towards industrial production. Our Rotterdam facility plays an important role in developing and validating our process, while our commercial facility in ’s-Gravendeel marks the next major step in scaling our technology.
To support this next phase, we are looking for an experienced and hands-on Senior Process Engineer to play a key role in the commissioning, ramp-up, optimization, and future development of our industrial facilities.
About the role
As Senior Process Engineer, your primary focus in the first phase will be supporting the commissioning and ramp-up of our commercial facility in ’s-Gravendeel. During the first six to twelve months, you will spend most of your time on-site, working closely with the Construction Manager, operators, contractors, equipment suppliers, and internal engineering teams.
As operations stabilize, your role will increasingly shift towards process optimization, operational support, and translating lessons learned into improvements for existing and future everox facilities. Commissioning will remain part of the role as everox expands and develops new plants, including the potential to support future international commissioning projects.
This role combines process engineering, plant operations, troubleshooting, commissioning support, and continuous improvement. You are equally comfortable behind a process flow diagram and on the plant floor. You enjoy solving real operational challenges, engaging with operators, troubleshooting equipment, and turning practical learnings into improved process designs.
What you will do
Commissioning & ramp-up
- Support commissioning, start-up, and ramp-up activities at our commercial facility in ’s-Gravendeel.
- Prepare and execute process test plans, commissioning procedures, and performance tests.
- Troubleshoot process and equipment issues together with the Construction Manager, operators, contractors, and suppliers.
- Support FATs, SATs, vendor acceptance testing, and the transition from project execution to stable plant operations.
- Analyse plant performance during ramp-up and recommend practical process improvements.
Process optimization & future development
- Improve plant performance by increasing output and product quality while reducing material losses, energy consumption, downtime, and operating costs.
- Investigate process upsets, equipment underperformance, quality deviations, and reliability issues through structured root cause analysis.
- Translate operational experience into improved process designs and technical standards for future everox facilities.
- Participate in design reviews, HAZOPs, and technical risk assessments.
- Develop process KPIs, operating procedures, commissioning documentation, and training materials.
- Act as a technical sparring partner for operators, technicians, and junior engineers.
- Promote a strong safety culture and contribute to safe, reliable, and disciplined plant operations.
What you bring
- A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Process Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Typically 5–8+ years of relevant experience in process engineering, commissioning, production engineering, operations excellence, plant performance, or a similar role.
- Proven hands-on experience in industrial plant commissioning, start-up, ramp-up, or plant optimization.
- Experience working in or close to plant operations, preferably in an industrial, recycling, bulk materials, mineral processing, cement, aggregates, or similar environment.
- Experience with root cause analysis and structured troubleshooting.
- Strong safety awareness and a practical engineering mindset.
- Professional proficiency in English and at least B2-level Dutch.
- Willingness to work primarily on-site in ’s-Gravendeel during the first phase of the role.
- Willingness to travel occasionally in the future to support commissioning of new facilities.
We are looking for someone who
- Is hands-on and enjoys spending time on the plant floor.
- Is not afraid to get their hands dirty when solving operational problems.
- Can balance engineering theory with practical reality.
- Takes ownership and drives issues to closure.
- Communicates effectively with operators, management, contractors, and suppliers.
- Has strong attention to detail and disciplined documentation habits.
- Is comfortable working in a fast-moving scale-up environment where not everything is already defined.
What we offer
- A key role in the commissioning, optimization, and future development of everox facilities.
- A gross annual salary of €70,000–€90,000 based on a 40-hour working week, depending on your experience.
- A pension plan at Zwitserleven.
- Equity options (ESOP) to grow with the company’s success.
- The opportunity to work on industrial-scale technology that contributes to circular concrete and lower CO₂ emissions in the construction industry.
- A hands-on role across our ’s-Gravendeel and Rotterdam facilities, with the potential to support future international commissioning projects.
- A passionate, mission-driven team working to decarbonize one of the world’s largest industries.
