Who we are
Do you love being among the night owls, do you feel at home in the rich cultural nightlife, and does your heart skip a beat when you hear that heavy bass? Then this might be the internship for you.
export is a new underground club in Rotterdam. Every weekend brings new, innovative nights. We give a platform to local and emerging talent, and love bringing international artists to Rotterdam.
Starting in September (exact dates to be discussed), we are looking for a marketing & communications intern to strengthen our team for approximately 24 hours per week (more depending on agreements). Do you have the perfect plan to strengthen export's place in the city? And would you like to help shape a new place?
Then we'd love to hear from you.
About the role
As a marketing & communications intern, you will contribute to export's marketing strategy. The position is 24 hours (part-time), but if your study programme requires more hours, we can certainly discuss that.
You will work hands-on alongside the marketing manager, and learn some insight around the process of production and programming. You will learn to work with a brand deck and assets by designing export's output on platforms including Instagram. Once you have mastered this, you can also take responsibility for other channels, such as RA, SoundCloud, and soon TikTok.
Some of your possible tasks
- Together with the marketing manager, you are responsible for socials: Instagram, and in the future TikTok
- Learning to write copy for socials and mailings
- Keeping other channels up to date: SoundCloud, Resident Advisor
- Contributing ideas for future marketing strategies
- Creating designs for social media content (Adobe Illustrator, Adobe After Effects)
- Creating video content (Adobe Premiere Pro, CapCut, DaVinci Resolve)
- Being present at some nights for content creation (but you are more than welcome to come party every weekend )
What we're looking for
Someone with a passion for nightlife, and an affinity with Rotterdam. We're looking for someone who communicates and writes English well. Of course Dutch is also nice, but English is mandatory. You'll be working in a small team, meaning you'll be closely involved with everyone. This calls for an assertive attitude and flexibility. You are someone who can handle a bit of stress and deadlines — last-minute changes are no problem for you. You'll collaborate a lot, but a certain level of independence will also be expected.
If you have experience or affinity with Adobe software, that's a plus! But definitely apply even if that's not yet the case because we can teach you too. Sometimes we might ask you to be present on club nights for content creation, so working a little late is no problem for you. Finally, and most importantly, you are up to date with the latest trends, and you know what really draws the dancer to the dance floor.
What you get
- A unique behind-the-scenes look at a brand-new club just getting started.
- This is not a "just another intern on the floor" role, but a genuinely valued internship placement. There is room for experimentation and original input.
- A small, hands-on team.
- Internship allowance depending on hours.
- First-hand experience from not just the marketing of a club, but also the production and programming side.
- You'll build connections within Rotterdam's cultural scene.
- A permanent spot on the guest list for the duration of your internship ;)
