Functional / Data Analyst | Data Redesign | Major Dutch Bank
We are looking for an experienced Functional / Data Analyst to join a strategic data redesign project at a leading Dutch bank in Amsterdam. You will work at the heart of a modernisation effort, simplifying and future-proofing a complex data landscape to support Business Banking across multiple countries. This is an output-driven, independent role with real ownership, a sharp SQL focus, and direct impact on how data is used across the organisation.
About the role
You will be embedded in a multidisciplinary team of data engineers and analysts, contributing to the redesign of the DM-CAN and One Business Banking data landscape. Your core work involves translating business requirements into scalable data models, building and optimising SQL queries, tables and views, and defining data mappings that hold up in production. Beyond the technical side, you will support adoption of the new landscape, contributing to knowledge transfer materials and helping onboard analysts and users to the redesigned environment.
About you
- Strong background in functional analysis within data or reporting environments
- Hands-on SQL experience building, optimising, and troubleshooting queries, tables, and views in governed environments such as Oracle, BigQuery, or SAS
- Solid knowledge of data modelling, data mappings, and analytical datasets
- Experience contributing to end-state data design and supporting implementation or knowledge transfer
- Able to work independently on agreed deliverables while collaborating closely with engineers and business stakeholders
- Experience in a banking or financial services environment is a plus
- Familiarity with Business Banking products is an advantage
