HLB Research and Consultancy in Agriculture is an independent knowledge institute focused on plant and soil health. With locations in Wijster and Dronten, and together with partners within the HLB Group, we contribute to efficient and sustainable agriculture.
We continuously develop new knowledge in plant and soil health and apply it across the entire agricultural value chain.
The role
We are looking for an enthusiastic researcher with broad expertise in soil biology and nematology, for example through experience with:
- Soil microbiome research
- Soil resilience
- Soil ecology
- Nematology
You have an affinity with the agricultural sector and are able to translate scientific knowledge into practical applications.
As an R&D Manager, you will:
- Lead research projects in soil biology and nematology related to sustainable arable farming
- Collaborate with researchers, advisors, laboratory staff, and external partners (science, industry, and government)
- Combine scientific research with project management, acquisition, and development of new diagnostic and analytical methods
Responsibilities
Your tasks include:
- Leading research projects in soil health and nematology
- Bridging science and practical agricultural applications
Requirements
We are looking for someone with:
- A relevant PhD degree (e.g. Nematology, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Phytopathology, or Agriculture)
- Demonstrable affinity with arable farming and soil health
- Experience or strong interest in nematology and/or soil biology
- Experience in project leadership and research management (preferred)
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
- Proficiency in Dutch and English
- A proactive, flexible, and enthusiastic attitude
- A valid driver’s license (B)
