About this role
The Inbound & Outbound Planning Specialist will be responsible for coordinating airport cargo pickups and arranging outbound trucking after customs clearance at our warehouse.
This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple stakeholders (ground handlers, warehouse, customs and carriers).
Responsibilities
1. Planning and Coordination
- Coordinate daily inbound cargo pickups from airports and ensure smooth handover to warehouse operations.
- Arrange outbound trucking after clearance completion, including scheduling, routing and resource planning (within given guidelines).
- Work closely with ground handlers, warehouse staff and customs colleagues to ensure timely clearance, pickup and transfer of cargo.
- Update stakeholders proactively when schedules change and handle operational exceptions.
2. Performance Monitoring and Analysis
- Track and update key operational metrics (e.g., truck utilization/turnover, loading rate, on-time performance).
- Identify recurring issues and propose practical improvements to reduce delays and improve service quality.
- Prepare routine reports and operational updates for the supervisor/management team.
3. Carrier Coordination
- Select appropriate carriers/transport options based on shipment requirements and agreed cost/service standards.
- Request quotes and support basic rate comparisons; follow internal approval.
- Monitor carrier performance and escalate issues when service levels are not met.
- Maintain accurate carrier and shipment records in relevant systems/tools.
Requirements
- Proven experience in logistics operations with a focus on inbound/outbound planning, dispatch or transport coordination.
- Experience with air cargo / airport processes / ground handlers is a strong plus.
- Strong communication and stakeholder coordination skills (warehouse, customs, carriers, customers if needed).
- Comfortable working with logistics systems/tools for scheduling, routing and tracking shipments (Excel/TMS/WMS etc.).
- Able to work under pressure, prioritize tasks and manage changing schedules. (6h-15h/15h-24h)
- Fluent in English. Dutch is a strong plus.
