As a Lead Engineer - Electrical and Instrumentation, you are the technical authority on electrical design and instrumentation within the organization. You translate customer requirements into standardized, scalable solutions and ensure high-quality implementation across the full project cycle—from quote and sales support to engineering, commissioning and service.
You play a key role in driving technical excellence, supporting project execution, and enabling knowledge sharing across Technology Group, Engineering, Sales, and Service teams.

1. Technical Authority & Solution Design
-
Interpret and challenge customer technical specifications related to electrical, control, and instrumentation systems.

Define optimal electrical and automation concepts aligned with company standards and modular design principles.

Ensure compliance with international standards and local regulations (IEC, UL, CSA, machinery safety, etc.).

Lead technical discussions with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
2. Sales & Proposal Support
-
Support Sales during pre-engineering and quotation phases.
-
Review and advise on technical concepts, system architectures, and provides comprehensive cost estimates.

Define scope boundaries, assumptions, deviations, and technical clarifications.
-
Balance customer-specific requirements with standardization strategy.
3. Product Configuration & Standardization
-
Own and continuously improve the product configurator (e.g., KBMax).
-
Translate engineering standards into configurable modules and options.
-
Maintain cost models, engineering effort estimates, and option structures.
-
Drive standardization, modularization, and reuse of electrical/instrumentation/control system designs.
4. Engineering & Lifecycle Support
-
Support project execution teams with expert guidance on complex electrical, control, and instrumentation topics.

Specify and review key electrical and control system components such as CPU, IO-modules, communication-modules, etc.

Supports seamless integration between the machine control system and customer control system.

Review and validate engineering deliverables (hardware design, control architecture, instrumentation concepts).

Provide technical input during commissioning and troubleshooting phases.

Ensure lessons learned are captured and fed back into standards and tools.
5. Technical Support & Problem Solving

Act as escalation point for complex hardware and software issues beyond first-line support.

Troubleshoot and resolve control system and instrumentation issues in collaboration with service teams.

Modify and update PLC software using Siemens and Allen-Bradley platforms.
-
Support commissioning and field service activities when required.
6. Training & Knowledge Management

Develop and maintain training material for control systems and instrumentation.

Deliver training sessions to internal teams.
-
Act as a technical mentor and knowledge hub within the engineering team.

Ensure documentation and knowledge sharing are structured and accessible.

Qualifications & Experience
Education
-
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, or related field
-
Minimum 5-10 years’ experience in the field of electrical engineering.
Experience & Technical Skills
-
Experience in PLC programming (Siemens and Allen-Bradley)
-
Knowledge of electrical hardware design (e.g., Eplan)
-
Experience with instrumentation and process control systems
-
In-depth understanding of control systems, industrial automation, and machine safety

Proven experience with international standards and regulatory compliance
-
Experience with configurator tools (e.g., KBMax) is a plus

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Ability to act as technical lead and decision-maker

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

Ability to translate complex technical concepts into practical solutions
