Be part of one of Europe’s first large-scale SAF production facilities. You will contribute to the development of DSL-01 in Delfzijl, a pioneering plant focused on the production of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) and renewable by-products.
You will join an experienced team where your expertise will directly contribute to the safe and successful delivery of this landmark project.
As an OT Security Engineer, you will help build and secure the operational technology environment of DSL-01, one of Europe’s first large-scale Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) production facilities.
Reporting to the IT & OT Manager, you will work closely with OT Engineers, automation specialists, plant operations, and IT security teams to ensure cybersecurity is embedded into the facility from day one.
This is not a legacy clean-up role. You will help design the OT security foundations of a greenfield refinery, balancing cybersecurity, operational continuity, and safety in a highly automated industrial environment.
You will be responsible for securing critical production systems, designing OT network architectures, managing cybersecurity risks, and supporting incident response activities. Working closely with operational teams, you will help implement practical security controls that protect the plant while supporting safe and reliable operations.
Ultimately, your role is to ensure the systems powering DSL-01 remain secure, resilient, and ready to support production from commissioning through to full-scale operations.
As a growing company in a rapidly evolving industry, we are looking for people who feel comfortable in an environment where not everything has been defined yet and who are eager to contribute to building and shaping the organisation.
You take ownership, enjoy solving complex problems, and thrive in an environment where you can help build something from the ground up.
You recognize yourself in the following:
You have a degree or equivalent practical experience in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Automation, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
You have at least 4 years of cybersecurity experience, including experience within Operational Technology (OT), Industrial Control Systems (ICS), or industrial environments.
You have a solid understanding of industrial control systems such as PLCs, DCS, and SCADA environments.
You have experience with OT networking and industrial protocols such as Ethernet/IP, Modbus TCP, and OPC UA.
You are familiar with industrial cybersecurity standards such as IEC 62443 and NIST 800-82.
You understand how to balance cybersecurity, operational continuity, and safety in industrial environments.
You are fluent in English. Dutch language skills are considered a strong advantage.
Nice to have:
Certifications such as GICSP, CISSP, or ISA/IEC 62443.
Experience within manufacturing, chemicals, energy, process industries, or other industrial environments.
Experience supporting greenfield projects or large-scale industrial facilities.
You also bring:
Strong communication skills and the ability to work across technical and non-technical teams.
A pragmatic, risk-based approach to problem solving.
The ability to translate complex security concepts into practical solutions for plant operations.
DSL-01 is SkyNRG’s frontrunning renewable fuels facility in Delfzijl, Netherlands. The plant will produce Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) from residual fats and greases using the HEFA (Hydrotreated Esters and Fatty Acids) pathway, with additional renewable products like butane, propane, and naphtha as by-products.
DSL-01 is the first facility in Europe dedicated entirely to SAF and its by-products. Once operational, it will produce 100,000 tonnes of SAF and 35,000 tonnes of sustainable by-products per year, cutting greenhouse gas emissions by around 80% compared to conventional jet fuel.
Construction started in 2026, with first fuel expected in 2028. The project includes the main facility, pipelines, and temporary work areas. At DSL-01, you will be part of a team building a state-of-the-art industrial plant from the ground up, contributing to a truly sustainable energy future.
Environmental and social responsibility are at the heart of DSL-01. We follow international frameworks and Dutch regulations to manage impacts on people, nature, and local communities. Safety, sustainability, and collaboration guide everything we do.
As DSL-01 is still being built, many aspects of the plant, roles, and benefits are still being shaped. Our HR team is actively defining the full compensation and benefits package specifically for the Delfzijl facility. You can be assured that the final offer will be highly competitive and designed to reward your expertise, contribution, and impact as we bring this pioneering SAF plant to life.
We are committed to offering an attractive total package to ensure we attract the best talent in the market. This includes a competitive salary, performance-based incentives, and a range of benefits that support your personal and professional growth.
At DSL-01, you will work in a dynamic, innovative environment where technical curiosity, problem-solving, and teamwork are valued. You will engage with operators, engineers, and managers across disciplines, helping to bring a pioneering renewable fuels facility to life while making a real impact on the planet.
Are you ready to help build a plant from the ground up? Join a pioneering force in sustainable aviation and help create a cleaner, more sustainable future.
