RWE Offshore Wind Netherlands B.V.
To start as soon as possible, full time, permanent
As Operations Engineer WTG, you will be part of our Operations & Maintenance team for the OranjeWind offshore wind farm. In this key role, you will ensure safe, reliable and efficient operation of our wind turbine generators (WTGs), acting as the technical interface between OranjeWind and the main WTG contractor. You will contribute directly to asset integrity, availability and performance optimisation, supporting RWE’s goal to significantly expand its offshore wind portfolio and help advance the energy transition.
RWE is currently constructing the OranjeWind offshore wind farm in the Netherlands, 85 kilometres off the coast of Den Helder with a capacity of 795 MW. Featuring the latest high-tech Vestas V236 15 MW turbines, OranjeWind will deliver first power in 2027. For the Operations & Maintenance (O&M) phase, we will deploy a Service Operation Vessel (SOV) to ensure efficient offshore logistics.
About the role
In the role of Operations Engineer WTG, you will take responsibility for the technical and operational follow-up of the wind turbines within the offshore wind farm and ensure that contractual and technical requirements are met throughout the operational phase.
Your main responsibilities include:
Play a leading role in the handover process of the WTGs from construction to operations, including the management and follow‑up of punch lists
Act as the technical interface for managing the Service & Maintenance Agreement (SMA) with the WTG main contractor, including monitoring the contractor’s performance and striving to improve service quality
Check progress of planned and corrective maintenance, review weekly alarm allocation sessions with the WTG main contractor, and ensure that downtime is correctly allocated and reported
Monitor the asset integrity of the turbines, including configuration management and change control
Monitor turbine alarms, failure data, maintenance logs, condition monitoring information and performance data to support root cause analysis, propose reliability improvements and align findings with the RWE V236 platform expert
Contribute to monthly reporting, including REMIT, availability forecasting and lost production analysis
Support incident investigations and the implementation of HSE improvements in line with RWE standards and procedures
You will work in a multidisciplinary team and interact regularly with site operations, HSE, engineering, commercial and central support functions, helping to continuously improve the performance and reliability of the OranjeWind assets.
Job requirements and experience
Relevant technical education (e.g. mechanical, electrical, industrial, renewable or similar engineering discipline) or equivalent experience in a comparable role
Solid understanding of turbine maintenance and monitoring data (alarms, failure records, condition monitoring and performance data) and their use in root cause analysis and reliability improvements
Experience in working with contractors, including performance management, fleet management, and service/maintenance agreements
Ability to manage handovers, punch lists and configuration management in a structured and transparent way
Sound understanding of HSE principles and experience contributing to incident investigations and improvement actions
Good analytical and computational skills (MS Excel, MATLAB and Python) with the ability to translate data into information and actionable technical and operational measures for optimisation of reliability and availability
Good communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders
Willingness to work in an offshore wind environment and to travel as required for meetings, site visits and offshore campaigns
Advantageous, but not essential
Experience with offshore wind farms and large modern offshore WTGs
Familiarity with REMIT reporting, availability forecasting and lost production analysis
Experience with condition monitoring systems and reliability‑centred maintenance approaches
Knowledge of Dutch regulatory requirements related to offshore wind operations
Previous experience in a similar Operations Engineer / Asset Engineer role in the renewable energy sector
