Overview
Accelerated Global Logistics (AGL) is seeking a highly connected and commercially driven Director of Global Floral Trade Lanes to lead the expansion of our floral logistics presence throughout the Netherlands and Europe, with a primary focus on the Aalsmeer floral auction ecosystem and strategic air cargo trade lanes between Europe and the United States.
This is a senior-level business development role designed for someone who already understands the operational realities, relationships, and commercial structure of the international floral industry. We are looking for an individual with direct experience working within the Dutch floral market...including exporters, importers, consolidators, wholesalers, airline cargo divisions, and auction-related logistics networks.
The ideal candidate brings an established network within the floral sector and understands the importance of speed, cold-chain integrity, reliability, and relationship management in the movement of high-value floral cargo.
This is not a transactional sales role.
This position is focused on developing strategic floral trade lanes, building long-term partnerships, identifying growth opportunities, and helping establish AGL as a recognized international logistics partner within the global floral supply chain.
Key Responsibilities
Global Floral Trade Lane Development
- Develop and expand AGL’s floral logistics presence throughout:
- Aalsmeer
- Schiphol
- Rotterdam
- Naaldwijk
- broader European floral markets
- Build strategic floral trade corridors between Europe and the United States
- Identify and secure new business opportunities with:
- Floral importers
- Exporters
- Consolidators
- Bouquet manufacturers
- Wholesalers
- Floral distribution companies
- Cold-chain logistics providers
- Establish long-term commercial partnerships within the Royal FloraHolland ecosystem
Strategic Business Development
- Develop high-value relationships with key decision-makers across the floral supply chain
- Position AGL as a specialized logistics partner for temperature-sensitive floral cargo
- Identify opportunities for:
- dedicated air freight programs
- consolidation services
- fixed trade lane solutions
- strategic logistics partnerships
- Work closely with airline cargo divisions, handling agents, and trucking providers to support trade lane growth
- Analyze market trends, seasonality, and capacity fluctuations impacting floral exports and imports
Floral Logistics & Air Cargo Expertise
- Maintain a strong understanding of:
- floral auction schedules
- airline cutoffs
- cold-chain requirements
- perishables handling
- cargo seasonality
- transit sensitivity
- Collaborate with AGL operations teams to ensure service reliability and operational execution align with customer expectations
- Support development of logistics solutions focused on:
- transit speed
- cargo integrity
- schedule reliability
- cost efficiency
Relationship Management
- Serve as a senior commercial representative for AGL within the European floral industry
- Conduct in-person meetings and relationship development throughout the Netherlands and Europe
- Maintain strong communication with:
- customers
- overseas agents
- airline partners
- trucking companies
- warehouse operators
- cold storage facilities
- Represent AGL at floral, logistics, and air cargo industry events
Commercial Strategy & Revenue Growth
- Develop and maintain a strategic pipeline of floral and perishables business opportunities
- Negotiate commercial agreements and logistics solutions aligned with long-term profitability
- Drive sustainable revenue growth while maintaining AGL’s service standards and operational reputation
- Provide market intelligence and strategic insight to executive leadership regarding:
- industry trends
- competitor activity
- market opportunities
- customer requirements
Qualifications
- Existing network within the Dutch floral and/or international floral logistics industry strongly preferred
- Experience working with:
- floral importers/exporters
- freight forwarders
- air cargo providers
- perishables logistics companies
- airline cargo divisions
- Strong understanding of the Aalsmeer floral market and international flower supply chains
- Knowledge of air freight, cold-chain logistics, and international transportation operations
- Proven ability to develop commercial relationships and generate new business
- Strong communication and negotiation skills
- Entrepreneurial and self-driven mindset
- Ability to operate independently within a fast-moving international environment
- Fluent English required
- Dutch and/or additional European languages considered a strong advantage
